Realistically how what percentage of 3* become all American?

Why does that even matter? Again, my point was we should probably see what kind of developing the young guys do before we claim we suck and need plugs everywhere. It's not exactly common for freshmen to be big contributors on the lines, especially Dline.

I can guarantee you that 2-3 of those DL's at bama will be processed in 2020 and 2021.

If we have a rash of injuries on the DL in 2019 or 2020 we could be in trouble. If not, it is up to our staff to coach those guys up.

Bama signed more 4* DL this class than LSU will have on the roster in 2020

Somebody explain to me why I as an LSU fan should give a frick about how many defensive linemen bama signs. They're bama they have the luxury of signing 28 or 30 players.

I care about LSU and the talent that they put on the field.

When did our fans become such huge gaping pussys?

We were thinner at corner and had a potentially bigger problem there than along the defensive line but you haven't seen anyone crying about that because O didn't whiff on all of those corners.

All of you saw a chance to bitch and not one's to ever let a good chance to bitch go to waste you've been crying like broke dicked dogs all day.

A significantly higher percentage.

Go look at the 5 star DTs from 2016

Rashawn Gary - 2x All Big Ten first team
Dexter Lawrence - All ACC
Ed Oliver- 3x All American
Rashard Lawrence - our best DL
Benito Jones- 2nd team all SEC

You’re much much much more likely to get a quality player with a 5* than a 3*

And sure maybe ALL our 3 stars will pan out, but the odds are not good.

Bama has gotten 9 DL's the past 2 years.

LSU has gotten 7.

The talent is different but the numbers aren't far off. The return of Lawrence and Fehoko buys time to continue to transform that position.

why does bama get this "luxury" and LSU doesn't?

I agree that some of the fan base is obsessed with bama, but they are the standard and really have been domination along the DL, so...

You could replace bama with Clemson, UGA, OSU and see how there DL roster looks compared to LSU over the past few years.

Lester, my biggest concern was depth here...QUALITY depth. LSU whiffed this year at DL position and could be in the same boat as '17 if injury bug, suspensions, etc. hit this group. LSU has been missing on big time DL players for years and LSU has the best recruiter and best DL coach in the business. It's a great class but concernin in this area.

What does that mean?

I feel Like we’re getting less talented there. Even if we have a huge 2020 class theylle be young

Because our DE depth in 2020 is

Logan (if he stays) 4*
Farrell 3*
Thomas 3 *
Cotton 4*
Jenskin 3*
Evans 3*

That’s a lot of hope and pray.

It means that our young players have another year to develop before they actually play a lot. This is good.

I agree.

I'm not doing it, but I'd like to see how this compares to Bama, UGA, Tam, Clemson, OSU, FLa, Aub.

I need something to piss and moan about today. Might as well be the so called DL problem. Gotta keep things miserable for this board. Can't folks enjoy the positives in the class. Definitely don't want to do that.

There are far fewer 5* players than 3* players. So, yes, statistically speaking, there should be more 5* players percentage wise than 3*. But not being an all-american doesn't mean they aren't very good players. There are only a select few all-americans. So this train of thought is flawed to begin with.

Orgeron was hired to do just that in January of 2015. Any idea on a possible end date for such a massive undertaking??

I haven’t posted much criticism lately because things look set up well for 2019.

But to pretend that the DL, or QB room for that matter, is any less “poorly constructed” looking ahead to 2020 than it was going into 2016 is either pure delusion or outright dishonesty.

Just curious. Did you ever admit that you were wrong about O and the 2018 team last summer?

I'm not familiar with what he said about O and the 2018 team last summer. What was he wrong about?

Yeah let’s keep stunting their development by moving them from O to D every year
