Even in the blowout wins you could see the signs of potential defensive and rebounding issues. Physicality and intensity has never been a core principle of McMahon’s team. LSU played so well offensively that they were able to mask the issues.

Agreed 100% alt. This teams defense is concerning.

We’re probably gonna score 100 this game, but seeing FIU score 74 (and counting) is concerning

When SEC play starts, Thomas is hardly going to come off the floor

That's what I think too. But this year we're gonna be competitive in all our SEC games. Stevie Wonder can see this year's team is vastly improved over the previous three-- last year in a game like tonight's we would be trailing in the second half and maybe come back to win late by about seven points.

Outside of King our guards get smoked off of the dribble pretty badly

That said, another comfortable win

You can recognize the solid play offensively (absent the turnovers). You can recognize the good job of getting to the line and making the game a blowout from there. Particularly when the 3 wasn’t falling. But if the goal is to be a good team, you can recognize the areas of concern that can prevent win against the MUCH better competition coming.

These games are mismatches. So the value in watching them is not the result, but seeing the strengths/weaknesses. But, hey feel free to ignore

McKinnon and Sutton don't play the same position. You only have one guard in your starting lineup and Tamba isn't a guard by any means.McKinnon was one of the reasons we came on strong in the second half with his hustle and energy and speed down the court. Miller has a long way to go to become a mature player. Too hesitant, not enough confidence and not tough enough under the boards.

Probably. And Thomas is going to have to play like 35+ minutes every night.

ETA: Sutton too

He was assertive, particularly inside, on both ends of the floor late last season against some really good teams. Most notably, Florida. You’d hope that would carry over to this season

He looked lost tonight. Him and Reece kept it from being a 30+ point game.

So what part of this team is headed towards being the worst in the NCAA like LSU football's offense and where are the signs?

We're top 50 in offense, top 30 in defense, top 25 in assists per game, top 20 in rebounds per game.

Small sample size, but please point to the problem so far.

Nebraska shot 17/34 three pointers. That will win you a lot of games. Preseason rankings don't mean a thing. Nebraska has a good team like I am hoping LSU does also.

The defense, you can tell with the penetration allowed, open 3’s, missed free throw luck, lateral quickness of mckinnon will be part of the problem

No one said they are heading towards being the worst defense in the country. But, much like you, after the Florida football game, a win where the defense dominated, many bristled at the mere suggestion that there were clear concerns with the offense. Even in a victory. Hell, the HC was pissed anyone raise those questions. As it turns out, those signs were harbingers of thing to come once the competition improved.

Opponent guards are not meeting a ton of resistance getting to their spots. The defensive rebounding, at times, is leaky. The FIU’s of the world can’t make LSU pay for it. Particularly because LSU’s offense is playing well. But SEC and good power conference teams will if it isn’t improved.

I know this may be a foreign concept to some, but it’s possible to be pleased with the win, happy about offensive improvement AND recognize things aren’t perfect and there are weaknesses

Not to mention in 2 of these 3 games, the opponent lost a starter in the first half of a game to injury, couple luck things working in lsus favor. And yes, no one is saying will be the worst defense in the country. But they wont be top half of the sec or the country

Thanks dude, never knew that. You only have 3 true guards in the lineups. The ability the break a press and set the offense. 3 is being kind. Have to play size and passing.
