Another season of college basketball is upon us. I know things have not been great last few years, but damn I love the sport in college. I know people are doubtful for many reasons, and I understand that. Trust is earned not given.

I am making this post to show that we are a much stronger team this season, and we have upgraded significantly. This is another reason we HAVE to make the NCAAT and look pretty good doing. People will find out about the players we have tonight, but I’d like to show you who transferred out and their initial games:

Noah Boyde WKU- vs Tenn Tech, off the bench 9 mins, 2pts 2rebs 2 TOs 2 fouls
Curtis Givens Memphis- Don’t play until Saturday, but in 2 exhibition games (one start one off the bench) vs Auburn (L 100-71) and Arkansas (L 99-75), in the 2 games combined he played 45 mins, 18pts, 4/25 FG, 2/12 3P, 8/12FT, 4rebs, 3asts, 6 TOs, 4stls
Damion Collins USF- vs Florida A&M, off the bench 12 mins, 0 points, 2rebs, 1stl, 1blk, 2 fouls
Mike Williams Seton Hall- W77-50 vs St Peters, started 21mins, 7pts, 2asts, 1TO, 1stl, 2/2FG, 1/1 3P, 2fouls
Tyrell Ward VCU- injured ankle and missed VCU’s game. Exhibitions, L51-70 vs Villanova, off bench 21mins, 10pts, 3/9FG, 2/4 3P, 2/2FT, 3rebs, 2ast, 2TO, 1stl, 1blk. W82-64 vs Fairfield, off bench 19 mins, 18pts, 6/8FG, 3/5 3P, 3/4FT, 3rebs,
Corey Chest Ole Miss- W88-58 vs Southeastern LA, off the bench, 14mins, 2pts, 1/3FG, 6rebs, 1ast, 1blk, 1TO, 3fls
Victorious Miller Oklahoma State- W95-71 va Oral Roberts, 28mins, 6/11FG, 2/5 3P, 7/8FT, 3rebs, 1stl, 4TOs, 3fls

I point all this out because I don’t think we have any “big” losses. Miller would be amazing to have to fill up the hoop, but liability on D and volume guy. This is Thomas’s team and not sure if Miller could just stand on the wing and allow him to create.

I have said over and over that Corey Chest wanting $1mil and be a focal point was hilarious. He is an average size big man with 0 offensive skill…we have 4 big men better than him, not close really. Curtis Givens seem to be a focal point at Memphis (not sure why), but man those 2 exhibition games, WOOF. Collins was our main big man and he can’t even get significant play at USF.

I know a lot of ppl dislike McMahon, but we really have had such little talent. I hope McMahon haters and those of us that are optimistic of the team can come together for at least a little bit this year. He either wins or he is out. If he wins, well then talent is the problem, if we don’t win he is the problem.

Tarleton State played 18 minutes of great ball against SMU, then got overpowered 95-76. My prediction is LSU 86 Tart State 73

Except for when we sign them and talk about what a good job he's done recruiting.

I'll be honest and say I don't pay any attention to MBB anymore but this sounds like "good news". They were bad when they showed up and just as bad after they left.

Exactly. We traded Chest for Sutton, and people are going to understand why

Same.

And btw I realize McMahon's approval rating is like 2% these days but I hope he makes a big comeback because he seems like a good dude. This year is probably his last chance.

People just can’t get over Wade. I worshipped Wade but is what it is. I want to win. I have also heard from multiple ppl McMahon is the most down to earth nice guy. In a time that we have BK sleeping his way around town and boozing 24/7, you’d think a good guy would be well received…but all that matters is winning at LSU. 2 years ago we had a decent squad and did well, but I think this is LEAPS AND BOUNDS better then any other roster. I predict a 9 seed in the tourney

No one really dislikes or are “McMahon haters”. It’s the 14-40 SEC record the last 3 seasons that fans hate.

And LSU is picked to finish 15 of 16 in the SEC this season. I’ve known you as MBB fan for quite a while Mr. Butt and appreciate your optimism, but the problem is 90% of those they say they care today will all but disappear by the end of January and not even know we’re playing games if things go as they have been under CoachMc’s tenure. Then you’re left with a dozen or so of us that will continue to painfully watch every game and be scolded because we actually give a shite.

I'm one of the 90%.

Umm what? I can name 20-30 posters that legit hope we don’t win because of the coach. Go on the recruiting board and look at the transfer portal thread in the spring. We get a good player and instead of celebrating it is “Doesn’t matter we have a shitty coach so we are going to suck”

I get it, but the program is bigger than the coach. We have given no resources, so no coach could win. All actual basketball fans should be excited this season. We invested money and we either go to the Tourney or we get a new coach. No reason to come into the season negative. Literally none

I don’t blame anyone for this. But if you follow the team at all, there is a difference between spending $1.5mil and $8mil on a team.

We have basically been putting out a mid major roster in the SEC. Literally no one can win with that. We have a top 10 roster in the sec this season. There are no excuses. Zipper and Miller banged up tonight, but we are deep and have guys who have been major contributors.

It’s beating a dead horse, but I just wish for once let’s go into this with an open mind then we can bring the pitchforks out when we drop a couple we shouldn’t.

At BC is sneaky, SMU is solid, TTU will be tough, and nice like tourney is sneaky. If you go into sec play with anymore than 2 losses I will be worried. But let’s take it game by game

Besides history? 14-40 is a fact. The timing of announcing the NIL increase was an absolute attempt to hoodwink casual fans, and apparently it worked.

Anyone can stick their head in the sand. We are actual literally picked to finish 15th in the SEC and that’s with 2 games against USCe on the schedule.

We have a pretty good roster this year, and I don't think that's really debatable. Who knows what happens during the season, but I feel much better knowing we have some players that aren't just projects and are good right now.

Our PG will probably be one of the better ones in the SEC. If we stay healthy, we could definitely beat expectations.

I hope we do. I go into every season optimistic and hoping for the best. I did it as a kid when Dale was coach and through the Brady roller coaster, TJ, CJJ, Wade, and now CoachMc. But that doesn’t mean I’m blind to the truth like Butt is asking of fans. Ignoring history isn’t going to make the team better.

I think it is very much debatable given that roster is expected to finish second to last in the SEC. Just because it might be better than the absurdly low standards McMahon's tenure has set for the program doesn't mean it's "good".

We'll find that out pretty quickly. The UCF game had some encouraging aspects. But LSU has generally played pretty well in their first games against increased competition. It's once those types of teams adjust that the wheels have often fallen off.

Each season is different. I just showed you the stats of outgoing players. They were not good. We did not have talent. We were so young and below average talent. We have good talent now and an old team. We had one season where we were a solid SEC team. The other 2 we had as much talent as the rec on a Friday night

You realize reporters who pick teams know nothing, right? If you go and look at the preseason vs end of year rankings yearly you would be shocked

We have given no resources to this staff. Women’s bball coaching staff gets double what the men do. Men’s is more competitive. Why do ppl just think you can make chicken salad out of chicken shite? Jalen Reed got injured and prior to that we were a decent squad. Good? No, but would have challenged an NCAAT bid.

We have no played the NIL game or even attempted to. I don’t understand why ppl don’t see that. We have this year. It isn’t a top 3 seed team, but this team talent wise is good. If we lose then it is on McMahon and he gets fired. But to use “14-40” when he took over a program with 0 players like all the things are here for him.

Y’all just can’t even hope for a victory. It is like this every thread. People want us to lose, sad

You’ve lost your mind over the last few years. I don’t remember this level of insanity 4-5 years ago.

I am an optimist until proven otherwise. And we obviously would suck year 1. Year 2 step forward. Year 3 we were meh then Reed done. Year 4…win. Period

There are factors that play into things. Injuries and stuff like that do matter. They just do. But regardless, LSU has to win. That’s Why I say people don’t want us to win, they would rather be right. No one can have an open mind. We are going into Year 4, we have a damn strong roster, let’s see what happens.

That’s all I am saying. The roster is completely different. I showed above how dudes weren’t good that we had. I would have to watch the game tonight hoping we struggle so I could be right
