This why Les Miles would give us the same fake stats every single scrimmage

2003- Hill, Spears, Lavalais, Williams, Oliver
2004- Oliver, Spears, Williams, Wroten, +Dorsey (Fr)
2007- Dorsey, Favorite, Jackson, Jean-Francois, Pittman, +Nevis(Fr)

2021- Gaye, Farrell, Logan, Evans, Roy, Ojulari, Anthony, +Smith(Fr)

Time will tell if this 2021 group grows into that top heavy 1st-Rder class of past 4-3 DL’s. I think this 2021 group is built a little differently because the game isn’t I-formation like it was 15 years ago.

Burrow spent more time stepping up in the pocket to deliver accurate on time strikes - I'll repeat... stepping up in the pocket. Burrow made that OL by being a knowledgeable field general and with Cush directing adjustments.

That's a big part of what was missing in 2020. 3 different QBs, none of them starters previously, 2 of them Freshmen a year after Brady is gone, without a Spring camp due to a virus, with a 1st year starting transfer center. The OL needed (and needs) help with communication and assignments. Enter Peetz, Davis, and another year for Shanahan.
Couldn't agree more. Made the same point about Cush/Shanny to the resounding roar of crickets.

I think the '19 O Line benefited greatly from Burrow being back there at QB. He was quick and decisive with his passes (at another level), and caused the defenses to distort. They focused so much on stopping him, that they opened up against the run as the season progressed (which is why Clyde emerged in mid-season, instead of showing out early).

Time will tell if Max can do the same things for this year.

Separates LSU from the elites? Just curious, other than bama, which team has won more national titles this century than LSU? I'll wait.

Solid point. My follow up question would be then why has LSU only made the playoffs once?

Also when has LSUs offense been amazing in the past 10 years outside of 2019?

We’re in the same division as a truely elite Team and we went through a coaching transition early in the CFP history. So we were getting late stage Les Miles and transitional O teams.

While this is true and it’s been upsetting we lost to those fckers 8 years in a row, it’s not the losses to them that have kept us out of the playoffs, it’s been to teams we shouldn’t lose to like the Mississippi States, the Ole Miss’, Arkansas’ of the world. I should at A&M to that as well.

With Max saying that communication with online blocking adjustments need to be fixed, it leans on the Center. The OC in 2019 said that Cush was his Offensive Player of the Year because he so accurately called out the blocking adjustments.

Actually, it hinges on the QB to communicate to the Center via their system exactly where the pressure is coming from because the QB from the standing position can see better than the center where the pressure is going to come from. So it is something Max and Liam need to workout together to ensure the calls are as close to 100 percent as possible.

Moreover, that was also one of the main problems with protection last season as well. As the true freshmen QB's were too green to accurately point out where the pressure was going to come from.

Ed O has been the head coach at LSU for 10 years already? That's news to me.

Plus if this is the offense from 2019 they don’t have to hold their blocks for long.

Meanwhile, the second string OL going against the second team defense had a five play drive against them. As those number two offensive linemen are finally starting to make big strides.

Dont sleep on Toa, he will be a beast. He is stopping everything coming to the right. Hopefully Dellinger recovers quickly but until then next man up.

That’s kind of a straw man. With the backward offense we ran all but one year after 2011 under Miles and two years of transition when O came in, what chance was there really of making the playoff? We could have had an all world O Line and it wouldn’t have mattered.

OL recruiting has never been a strength here, but at least we see a real emphasis being placed on it now and a very strong class coming in next year. Hopefully Davis is the right guy to continue that. He’s held the class together after a very unexpected fire/hire, so the early returns are promising. He certainly looks a lot better then Cregg.

Exactly. I thought everyone knew the side that has the edge in any scrimmage is average, while the losing side is horrible, and a testament to piss-poor recruiting and player development.
