This is a freaking elite dline that’s two deep. I think they are top 5 in the county. They should be way ahead of the Oline right now. Plus if this is the offense from 2019 they don’t have to hold their blocks for long. We are running a hybrid spread right, in a HUNH as much as possible. They need to be quick and in shape with great footwork, they don’t have to be much more than that.

Let it play out

I think the O line is going to be a problem for us no matter what. So I'm just hoping the coaching staff and players are prepared.

We are going to need something to bitch about during the game. OLine seems about as good as anything.

I think at best, we'll have a middle of the pack OL in the league. That should be an improvement from last year. We just haven't recruited there very well in 3-4 years.

Agree on D line. As for the O line, barring injury, I think they'll get better as the season progresses. Practicing against one of the best d lines in the country will help with that.

Hearing the offensive line kicked the shite out of the defensive line on Thursday and the defensive line came back on Saturday and kicked the shite out of the offensive line.

Nonetheless, on run blocking plays, the offensive line, unlike last season is consistently knocking holes for the running backs to run through and I also have heard that John Emery, Armani Goodwin, and Corey Kiner all had an excellent scrimmage.

Meanwhile, the second string OL going against the second team defense had a five play drive against them. As those number two offensive linemen are finally starting to make big strides.

Also heard don't sleep on Kardell Thomas, as they are saying he is looking far better these days. A lot of his issue was his injury was far worse than a lot of people knew, but nevertheless, everything seems to be back in order with him and he is now making significant progress on his position.

Agreed. If Masson and Guillory were out on Saturday, that makes me less optimistic. Not sure how the interior OL did. We heard that Ali, BJ, and Anthony dominated the edge. Not sure about interior

ETA- Hines was out on the OL as well. Bradford played well I hear

Some analysts are on to this LSU Defense, but many talkin heads are still looking at 2020.

They are in for a big surprise when teams can't score on us.

Take it to the bank, this defense may not win us a national championship but it will go down in 2021 as one of the best Tiger Defenses ever.

FIFY.

This is honestly what separates LSU from the elites.

I don’t see any other lineman besides Ingram that will play in the NFL as of now. Maybe if Deculus can transition to a guard, but that’s a big if. We will see about freshmen but we are just in a position of not being that talented. It’s unusual to not have some of these back-ups turning out to be really solid players, and maybe we will see a couple really improve this year, but I have my doubts. Hopefully they gel enough to be a decent unit.

It is a very good, hungry, aggressive and technically savvy (i.e. learning very detailed techniques) DL.

Almost everybody on here thinks they are good and are a strength of this team no doubt.

It is still going to surprise many (not all) just how good they are.

I personally think the OL is quite good. No- not where I think this squad can be or should be, there's still some room to get better. But still pretty damn good. Not a weak link at all.

Everybody (on here) says things like "Burrow made that 2019 OL". They are right, but for the wrong reason. Burrow spent more time stepping up in the pocket to deliver accurate on time strikes - I'll repeat... stepping up in the pocket. Burrow made that OL by being a knowledgeable field general and with Cush directing adjustments.

That's a big part of what was missing in 2020. 3 different QBs, none of them starters previously, 2 of them Freshmen a year after Brady is gone, without a Spring camp due to a virus, with a 1st year starting transfer center. The OL needed (and needs) help with communication and assignments. Enter Peetz, Davis, and another year for Shanahan.

If the communication & assignment/adjustments issues get fixed (they are not yet) with the QB AND OL (it takes both) then this will be a good OL. Solid. Maybe, and it is a maybe, very good.

So I agree with your "let it play out" because they have to fix that one issue first. Above all else. Fix that and many, if not all, other things will start to fall into place. They are on the clock though.

Separates LSU from the elites? Just curious, other than bama, which team has won more national titles this century than LSU? I'll wait.

With Max saying that communication with online blocking adjustments need to be fixed, it leans on the Center. The OC in 2019 said that Cush was his Offensive Player of the Year because he so accurately called out the blocking adjustments.
