Did Max Johnson need to play better this year? Yes

Was he the reason that LSU lost games? Probably a couple but be real on your assessment.

The kid threw 27 TDS and had 6 Ints. That is world beater numbers with this pathetic play calling LSU had this year.

I won’t bash the kid for trying the best he could but good god you people make it sound like he was worse that Jordan Jefferson which damn sure is not the case.

That being said he is now Tiger Bait.

Well being that he chose to take off his LSU uniform, he's not a solution neither.

He had flashes, but I think that was more a factor of how much we had to throw the ball with no running game and how much WR talent we had.

Max is a decent SEC QB that didn't progress much from fresh to soph year (probably due to coaching). He also was the sole reason we lost to alabama this year. I wish him all the best and think this is actually a mutually beneficial move for him and for LSU

He was ok. He wasn’t a difference maker aside from the last drive again A&M.

I don’t think we will miss him.

He played ok once running game got going
He looks lost when going through progressions
He got bailed out so many times when he just threw it up to Boutte before injury and Bech

He was very average no matter how you look at it. Held the ball WAY too long and just didn't see the field well.

But he left, so what's the point in discussing?

terrible accuracy, awareness, pocket presence, threw while backpedaling. had a terrible deep ball. stats are like bikinis. they do not show everything.

brennan at least has accuracy and a arm. will have to work on his reads/awareness but he was coming along fine before injury. brennan can run RPO also. he did it with E and linehan. we will beat his arse this year.

Max has a slow release and slow processor. He makes the right decisions but he is just slow to get there.

Max Johnson constantly rolled into rushers, jumped out of clean pockets, missed open receivers, and held on to the ball way to long.

He wasn't the only problem, but he was a problem.

the whole he threw for 27 TDs is because we couldn't run the ball worth a shite.

Typically it isn't one player that loses games. However he is the sole reason we lost to Bama. Open receiver in the endzone and not a difficult pass to complete. Also missed Bech on 4th down at the end when he was wide open. The ball sails on him quite often.

Good post. Max is a good kid and certainly not part of the negative culture. Is what it is. Move on
