Max Johnson doesn’t have NFL arm strength, therefore comparing him to NFL QBs is dumb.

As is Finley, according to reports. Every one of our QBs was practicing all summer. That is par, not something exceptional.

I don’t want to criticize Max Johnson, in fact I’m very anxious to see him next year, but we have two other veteran QBs, and we should have an open QB battle like at every other position.

You seem to have a tendency to read, and believe, press clippings. Remember when this board was all abuzz about Kardell Thomas, and what a workout warrior he was? Why? Because he posted a couple of 30 second videos of him lifting. Turns out that now he is thought to be lazy. So don’t believe all the snippets you hear.

If he can beat out Brennan then I'm all aboard and will be the baby face assassin's biggest fan.

At risk of sounding cliche, he has "tremendous poise", something that TJ lacks.

I agree he has poise. I disagree that TJ lacked it. In fact, TJ looked cool as a cucumber out there.

What you guys need to realize is that both TJ and Max looked damn good when they had a decent running game. Twice the running game was completely taken away from TJ, and he looked bad. We never saw Max without the running game support.

There has only been one Joe Burrow and he has the greatest single season ever. Cause there’s never been another Joe Burrow. Hopefully he is. But if he does just enjoy it when it comes.

You’re wrong. There have been plenty of Joe Burrows. Joe’s set records because he was the best QB in college football when offenses started to go wild. But don’t doubt for a minute that Burrow’s records are going to be broken, and soon. In 10 years Burrow won’t even be in third place in any major record (Now, his playoff record is likely to stand a long time, because Oklahoma).

Absolutely. The change in offenses almost assuredly mean JB's records are short lived.

'NFL arm strength' is an antiquated concept. Guys with big arms didn't give a shite about reading defenses - they spotted an open guy and they fired a bullet toward him. This take comes from Terry Bradshaw. And he had a cannon.

You only have to look at Brady, Brees, and Montana to see the cannon arm is not as essential as it once was.

Burrow doesn't have a canon, and he went number 1 overall.

I have to say Max is better than Burrow was his first year. Now we have to see about year 2-4.

Josh Allen

Look at Josh Allen's stats in college and see if you can figure out why he was drafted at all let alone #7

You don't have to break someone's fingers like Elway but you do need enough zip on the ball on the intermediate throws which all of those guys have

There is still a bare minimum. You can’t float passes.

Brees had a good arm. Above average. So did Brady.

Max needs to work on his mechanics. Getting his Lowe body into his throws will help.

I'm as big a Joe Burrow fan as anyone on this board, so I don't make this comparison lightly. He's a clone of Joey B.

I actually agree, but I don't think it's written in stone.

He has what you can't teach. He has serious feel for how to move in the pocket. He knows what he is doing, in some instances more so than Brennan.

But a lot can happen between now and when he reaches his potential.

His mobility is better than Finley and Brennan. Brennan is a better passer at this point though.

Did you not realize that’s what I was saying was that Ole Miss wasn’t his only game? He was putting down his performance against ole miss because ole miss was terribly bad. But the point was that his good performance wasn’t only against ole miss but also Florida.

Go rewatch the OM game if you think all Max can do is float passes..

C'mon Sammy. Judging QB's is not your strong suit.

Here's your assessment of Joe Burrow in the 2019 offseason...

And the thing is I like Joe.

True dual threat QBs are rare and he has a good arm and is a good runner.

He just isn’t the pure passer some other guys are.

5671 yds - 60 TDs - 6 INTs 76.3% comp. Heisman - Natty
#1 overall NFL pick

He has a very good chance to win a championship at LSU if he continues to improve and the talent placed around him stays elite. All one can ask for.
