I assumed they took over or rebranded from Goodyear. Seems all the old Goodyear shops are Mavis now.
Either way, buy your own tires online at a discounted rate, then give a local shop a few bucks to use their machine and put them on, balance them yourself.

I've been buying from Discount for 20 years. They've always done right by me. Including handling out of the ordinary issues like what you described.
My only complaint with Discount is that you sometimes can't find the more obscure tire brands or models. I saw some All Terrain tires with a really aggressive tread that I liked (can't remember the brand) and wanted to put them on my truck when I installed my 3" lift. Discount couldn't get them.
Minor complaint though.

Mavis bought out Kaufman. I used to go to Kaufman on occasion for oil changes and tires and they were quick and fair. I took it to Mavis about five years ago and they tried to upsell so much stuff, their total cost of recommended repairs was higher than the Blue Book value of the car. I told the the new manager I would show their recommendations to my mechanic -- who laughed when he read them. Haven't done any of that crap.
That location used to stay busy. Hardly ever see anyone there now.

They suck. My wife bought 4 different POS tires for the same rim in one year. Every time I brought a bad tire in they’d make up some stuff about why it happened and trick me into buying a new one with a discount
