Top 5 Programs wouldn't have added those players if they thought they would contribute to losing. Only you and some others think that way.

Top 5 programs added them as depth pieces.

You will say that one is for sure starting but can’t even venture a guess for the other two.

How convenient

Reece you're probably right.

Thomas is definitely a starter and has already been given high praise by Sampson and Reed looks to be in the starting lineup for sure with the injury to McCoy. All assumptions at this point though. It's a very uninformed comment by you people.

Yes, Thomas is the only one we know is starting according to Sampson. He wouldn't say Thomas was a "Flemings replacement" if he wasn't, barring injury.

Let's keep driving that point home that they all went to contribute and not start.

Yes and he was never staying at LSU. He's literally the only guy I would have wanted to keep.

I do not. I'm trusting WW and his process.

quote:

"Our point guard position has been the strength of our program. We have never not had a great point guard. Now, we slide to Dedan Thomas Jr., and we will just keep going," Sampson said. "DJ is a point guard's point guard. He can manage the game, and he understands the game at a freakishly high level. He is very smart and can get in the paint. He plays off his imagination and is very savvy. All of our guards are going to benefit from having DJ because he is going to make them all better."

Why would going all Euros be the only possible thing he could have done?

That makes zero sense.

Wade wasn't hired until the end of March. By then, most of the top transfer portal talent already had deals in place. Do you not remember that?

He stepped into a gut-shot recruiting season, and there weren't a bunch of five stars lined up to play for LSU's flailing program.

So he took a calculated risk for a chance at salvaging the season.

I think it was worth it. I'm sure he has backups to fill the roster.

So again, what we he supposed to do? Sign all the nobodys first, then chase the internationals with an even smaller chance of landing them? (He wasn't the only coach chasing those guys...)

He made the best play in a shitty situation.

There was enough talent out there to mix and match. Just my opinion.

If you are talking about in the portal then you are wrong. Will Wade said it himself that the main reason he went for guys overseas was because there was hardly anyone in the portal that was good enough to get LSU to the level that they needed to be to compete for a championship this year.

Not at all.

Missed on:

Haggerty
Lewis
Able
Wilkinson
Sherrill
McNeil

I'm sure there's more.

Didn't retain any former players(even as rotation pieces).

Then went overseas.

It was self inflicted. He was hired 2 weeks before the portal opened.

Rick Stansbury was brought in as part of the staff immediately (though he wasn't announced until the first week of April). The reason Stansbury is on staff is his international ties. There was a plan to try to sign international players from the start.

However, the volume probably did increase because of some portal misses.

You keep harping on this like it is some slight at Wade. LSU was the WORST team in the SEC last season. Dead-f'ing-last. Wade was brought in to totally overhaul the program. He recruited none of the players on last year's roster. While I have no doubt he and his staff assessed the eligible players on last year's roster, and probably even offered a few to stay, I think the amount of NIL he was willing to offer them was less than what other schools may have been willing to offer.

Pro teams do that every day. Team A may want to sign a guy, but only value him at, say, $5M per year. Team B may have a higher value on that player and be willing to pay $8M per year. It doesn't mean Team A "didn't want to sign" that player. It's just that they did not want to allocate as much money to him as another team wanted to.
