If you listen to any of Matt's interviews with higher profile people, most of them come off as being awkward. The way he starts off those interviews always seem to be terrible. If you listen to Jordy and Derek interview higher profile people, it comes off much smoother. Matt's biggest issue is trying too hard for humor at the beginning of an interview.

Cool is like a fine wine. It gets better with age. There are very few figures under 40 these days that I would call cool. The information, instagram, selfie age has put an end to that. The younger generation tries way too hard these days.

It's obvious he does research on his guests but it comes off as very stalker-ish in the actual interview.

Meh, it worked out really well with Steve Young on Monday.

Hating on Scona is just one of the cool things to do on this site.

Jesus, you guys are ridiculous. The interview was good. SVP didn't big boy anyone; Matt gave a good interview.

Scroll down to listen (can't direct link to 1045's site).

Was coming to post this. I listened to it again. There was no awkwardness in that interview.

I thought the interview was just fine and I think Matt does a good job on the show.

I actually had not listened to this interview before I commented and was more commenting in general about his interviews. I just went listen to this interview and it wasn't near as bad as some people are making it out to be. He has definitely had much more awkward interviews.

I think Matt's job is obviously a really tough one. Having to talk for 3 hours by yourself would not be easy. His cockiness and arrogance is what bothers me most about his show. I think having a co host would help the show a good bit though.

I was actually about to post this. His interview with Young was great. The dude is doing the show from Houston while his baby boy is laying in a hospital bead with a failing heart. Some of you pussys can't get out of bed with a lil scratchy throat. Then you throw shite and pout when a football team loses a game. Grow up.

Just listened to it. Was expecting much worse based on this thread. Mascona and SVP both did fine.

Nailed it. Interview wasnt bad at all.

My problem with scona is that he can be stubborn with some of his opinions. I think a cohost would help a lot

Maybe at some point down the road, but not while he's dealing with his son's situation in Houston.

Just listened to the interview after reading this thread. As a guy that listens to SVP's radio show every day, it did not feel at all like described in the OP. I thought it was a very good interview. Always great to hear SVP talk about Baton Rouge and LSU with so much admiration.

SVP is cool, regardless of any age bias. He's one of the very few talking heads, at ESPN or elsewhere, whose on-air persona is exactly who he is off the air. He was in town for the last Super Bowl & made the comment to the effect "only in La. could I be wearing jeans, sitting on the floor, eating oysters, drinking cold beer & listening to Dr. John". He loves LSU, CLM, the state & always has nothing but praise for all of us.
