That was an awful game between two bad teams. Georgia gave LSU seemingly 10 chances to win the game in the final 5:00 and LSU couldn’t do anything. I know they had their moments tonight, but I can’t for the life of me understand trying to rely on Reed and Ward to make individual plays late.

Unfortunately, McMahon is one step closer to besting Jones for the worst season in LSU basketball. More unfortunately that season was for a HC that everyone knew was on his way out, whereas this is just the beginning of what looks like at least 3 years of miserable viewing (maybe more). But fortunately, LSU moves to 5-7 in the “moral victory” records

The '65-'66 team went 6-20 under Frank Truitt in his first and only year at LSU.

My issue with Brady was that his teams were a snooze fest. Worst offensive coach we had before McNuggets showed up and it was hard to watch. Great defenses, always fought hard but damn man, those offenses were so bad.
For sure. Brady could coach a defense. His O was was terrible outside of NBA level talent. My issue with Brady - and I'll say again - complete inconsistency.

I had hope for McMahon but man this shite is so disappointing. No way to spin any of this. Next couple of years look like I’ll be finding something else to do during basketball season

Just watched the end of the game. Pretty much sums up this season, even we get close we go full limp mode. That was terrible, and to think KJ had a beautiful move to put us up by 1 with 10 seconds to go, then UGA makes a contested circus layup to go back ahead with 4 seconds left.

We then proceed to fail to get the ball inbounds twice.

If it’s all on Woodward then don’t you have to fire him first?

Hell fire everyone!

What kind of play was that

It was nearly the same exact play that got Trae the game winner against KSU...until the clock operator fricked up.

Did you like it then?

I sincerely hope this is sarcasm.

In college basketball, now more than EVER, a good HC only needs 1-2 years to "build" a strong team. Pre-freedom of transfer days, Wade completely turned LSU around and won the SEC in 2 years. Nate Oats at Alabama won the SEC in year two. Eric Musselman had Arkansas in the Elite 8 in years 2 and 3...a place that storied program had not been in 17 years prior to 2021. Now, with the transfer rules, programs can be flipped in a year (see Iowa St last season, along with Kansas St and Missouri this season)

If the thought when hiring McMahon was to give him 3-4 years to become even remotely competitive then it was a severely flawed hire from the beginning. That is NOT the nature of major college basketball any longer. Never before has it been easier to build a good team. Unfortunately, for coaches, that means the reasonable level of patience afforded in doing so is at an all time low.

ALL McMahon had to do this season was be average. That's it! NO ONE was expecting him to win the SEC. No one was expecting him to reach the NCAA Tournament. Just be average this season and hopefully start to build upon that next season.

Instead, he is taking the program to what will already be its lowest point in 6 years, and may ultimately be its lowest point in decades...ALL in an era where players are constantly changing schools. Thus, it is not unreasonable to say him may not have an opportunity at all to "build" from this season, because he will have to put together significantly new roster. It's not like it was at Murray St. where you get low rated guys or guys that fall through the cracks who you get to develop into good players over 3-4 years. You have to put together a good team today...then put together a good team next year with many new faces.

And will not have any next year. I bet they hit the portal as soon as they can.

The best players we have (albeit few) will be prime targets for other coaches who can coach at the power 5 level.

Yep. Ward and Reed are prime candidates. Both have big potential and there won't be many college coaches who look at them and their size and think they can't be some good players to take a punt on.

I know the state of the basketball program at this point is not entirely CMM's fault. However as time moves along it becomes more and more his fault. He is expected to make progress. At this point as the team continues its losing streak recruiting is sucking arse so hope for the future is growing more dim. I know we should be able to make gains in the transfer portal but my confidence of acquiring top transfers is very low. Top transfers will be going to Kentucky, Arkansas, Auburn, Tenn and Alabama first. And if they considering an up and coming SEC team they will look to UF and Mizzu first.

It's tough out there for LSU basketball fans.

Politicians are great at faking the public.

"Grad 92" was probably "St Aug Tiger" before Wade was fired.
