And this is as much of a Miles problem as anything.. it's the culture he has breaded here.
Most head coaches who come defensive background or who are former offensive lineman suffer from "smash mouth" syndrome. They want to slug it out week after week with strong defense & a solid run game. Miles suffers from it badly. At times it like he wants to run into 8-9 man fronts just to try to prove the toughness of his own team. It's ridiculous & puts the offense in tough positions when it comes to crucial down & distance situations.

I stopped reading here.
Have an upvote. I couldn't decide if I wanted to say this or that I've moved to L.A. and never heard of him. Both bases are covered.

NOPE... Maybe top ten........ He had more TALENT around him than almost ANY QB in college football history............
Jarvis Landry, Odell Beckham, Jeremy Hill, Trai Turner, La'El Collins, and even Terrance Magee.
3 of those guys were pro bowlers within 2 years, one was an All Pro, 2 have broke pro team records and NFL records, and 3 have had at least 1100 yards in a season.
- Beckham and Landry both had over 1100 receiving in 2013
- Hill and Magee averaged 6.9 and 7.3 ypc on 203 and 86 carries respectively in 2013

For one Miles handcuffs him when it comes to play calling. Example, even with a passer like Mett in 2013, Miles only allowed 17 pass attempts to be called. This was just a few weeks after the shootout loss at Georgia.
Secondly, you can only expand the playbook with good QB play. Jennings, who wasn't a Cam recruit, was awful in 2014 which limited play calling. Harris last season had his ups & downs then came out this season mentally shot.
Did the play calling last week not look different especially in the first half, with Etling under center? Did it not appear Cam had more confidence in Etling?
So what you are saying is that Les and Cam need a QB who was developed at some other college to work their offense? That's not sustainable and shouldn be tolerated. Neither one has shown the ability to take a guy from high school and develop him. It's f**king ridiculous how people can settle for this at a program like LSU.

I agree that Cam is "handcuffed" by Les but I don't get the impression he puts up much of a fight to the contrary.
And I'm glad you noted the reservations that were evident even in '13. The O was good in '13 but very simple. And as far as competing for the SEC it was still woefully inadequate.
A thousand times yes. But this also underscores just how low the bar has been set. We scored 23 pts. I know, I know, if not for the TO's and the penalties. But other teams have TO's/penalties and they still put up more than 23 with notably less talent than we have.
The problems with our O run much deeper than "QB development." They are philosophical. Les intentionally doesn't structure his O around his QB's skill-set. Brandon Harris is not a dud (nor AJ). They just don't fit what we've been trying.
Then Les plays each game to "preserve victory." So when we have a big lead, instead of getting the next guy valuable PT, it's spent handing the ball off to burn the clock off. Example, Mett was the successor to JL/JJ in '11. He could've accrued close to two complete games of PT during mop-up duty alone. Instead, he threw 11X all year.
I was never pre-disposed in the least to dislike Les until after the Wisconsin game. Now, I can't stand him.

Yep. He has set the bar very low.

The last two games showed a willingness to adapt. Let's at least let the rest of the season play out and see if the trend continues.

Also worth noting, Miles has a 2-2 record against Stoops head-to-head, at a time when Oklahoma had a far more talented program than OSU.
It's safe to say that Miles out-coached Stoops in three of their four all-time meetings, the one outlier being the game when Oklahoma was ranked #1 overall at the time and lost to LSU in the NC game.
Miles other loss to Stoops was by 3 points against a #2 ranked team on the road in a game OSU was expected to be blown out in, so there's that.
Miles is a better coach than Stoops, and would have a Saban-like dynasty had he coached at a school like Oklahoma (elite talent in a weak conference).

I agreed with just about everything he said except the part about Miles being a good coach. He isn't a good coach. He may be a god recruiter or a good man, father husband but a good coach? Not.
Well, Miles is irrefutably the most successful coach in the entirety of LSU football history.
So you're saying LSU has never had a good coach in all of program history, which identifies you as a blithering idiot whose mother should revoke your internet privileges.

The most successful coach in program history is the biggest underachiever?
It's unbelievable how moronic some of the posters on this site are. It's remarkable that some of you can even read and write.

In college he threw for more yards in 3 years than we have in like the past 6 or 7 years.
Not quiet, but I get your point.
Leinart 3 years = 10,693
LSU 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 = 10,153

Take the poli stuff to that board. Fact remains that Leinart was LUCKY to have the supporting cast he had. So I don't care what he has
Ah. More tangible evidence that Louisiana ranks last in education.

Leinart maximized his limited physical skills. Dude couldn't bust an egg with arm strength nor mobile.

He is absolutely spot on! Les Miles has been given every opportunity for success, he has had an open checkbook in regards to assistant coaches, and he still hasn't found a good QB coach and Offensive Coordinator.
I want us to win out. But, I believe he will be fired this year, because he is stubborn and will go back to his offense and we'll lose games because of it.

Matt has an excellent handle on the situation.
You can almost feel Les dig his heels in to prove "young guys like Matt, don't know what they are talking about"

Matt Leinart comments on Miles today. by covlatiger
Matt Lienart commenting about developing a QB is kind of funny to me considering his own development... or lack thereof.
Matt Leinart was a very good QB and USC had great success while he lead that team. Not sure what you remember about his college career. Was drafted in the NFL but did not have great success there but so did other good college QB's like Tebow etc.

And no disrespect to Cam Cameron, but there’s a reason why he’s been fired a couple of times, and there’s a reason why, for whatever reason, why in this offense they haven’t produced a quarterback who can play.
Yep
