Matt House didn’t just screw us in scheme and play calling, but also recruiting

You see guys like Frank, Davis and Hankton grinding on the trail for the offensive side but I don’t recall a single photo or mention of a defensive coach recruiting these last two years. We have enough offensive lineman to carry over to the defensive side honestly. Hell this past year we had 8 running backs on the roster. House fricked us so bad by not restocking on the dline and letting defensive back commits leave for other programs.
His staffs lack of recruitment was worse than his scheme. It begs the question what the hell this man was doing all day if both sides of his job were a failure.

Ultimately this is Kelly’s responsibility. For what he’s being paid we should expect more.

Who fired him? Who hired Frank and Davis? We can play this game all day. Mistakes may have been made, but it's time to fix them.

Agreed but it’s incredible to see the vast difference in recruiting on both sides of the ball. I have to assume Kelly realized that and fired the whole staff for it. Kelly is ultimately responsible but he has to trust his coordinator to be an adult and go recruit.

Umm, you don’t think the head coach or recruiting coordinator have s say so on the defensive side of the ball?

Matt House likes the nfl -he despises recruiting

Never said the HC or recruiting coordinator don’t have a say so. I believe they lay out their vision and it’s up to the coaches to execute. House didn’t execute

This is on Kelly.

Give it a rest. Look forward.

This was my response for the "give them more time, they only had 39 scholarship players two yrs ago." Obviously that did not deter the offensive staff from building a juggernaut like it did the Defensive side.

Especially someone who prides himself as a CEO coach who specializes in program management

Didn’t O hire Davis? As he was interim HC for the bowl game.

I’ve never been more upset, or upset at all, with a coach not earning his money than I am with House. We are worse off with him being here.
Should have fired his arse halfway through the season.

So it's no longer ed's fault? At what point does this shite become Brian Kelly's fault?

Sounds like he did the coach O thing and let it fall apart

That’s why I would be a little hesitant on hiring NFL coaches into college. Because most of them never had to worry about recruiting in the NFL, then go to college and never really give the recruiting aspect of the game a second thought.

Go back to House’ roots at UK. Stoops was an excellent DC/HC and they took time to build with 2-4* recruits and let them develop because expectations were lower for football.
When House was in the NFL college football completely changed in terms of transfer portal, NIL, etc. managing that means recruiting becomes that much harder because you have to recruit your own players week in and week out. Then recruit for roster turnover. Does that mean House was a bad coach? He had the 22nd ranked defense the year before. That was coming off of having 39 scholarship players on the roster. They did pretty good.
Ty Mathieu RAVED about what a great coach he was from their time with the Chiefs. I’ll take his opinion over tRants in evaluating the capability of a coach to teach. Ultimately, you have to be able to recruit, teach, scheme, etc. He had some adversity this season with injuries and losses of players. That in and of itself showed that he was not good at that part of coaching nor was he good at recruiting. His in-game coaching the season before was pretty damn good as LSU was a better second half team than first for whatever reason.
