You are correct. Scott had 433 yards in 1981

I’ll update the OP

And Taylor was only a Freshman last year. He’s having one hell of a career in the purple and gold thus far. I’m looking forward to seeing what he’ll do next year.

All SEC Brian Kitchen was pretty darn good and deserves mention.

Top 5 this year. If he improves his run blocking every year then he will leave LSU as the best TE in school history. He literally has the best bloodline to be a TE.

Saw one of his HS games this year.

He played for N. Crowley, which is a Div. 6-A school, largest TX athletic division, so it’s not like he was playing against runts.

The other kids look so much smaller ‘cause KP is every bit 6’-7”.

He could be a great one for the Tigers.

Rn I wouldn’t put him at number one tight end but possibly in conversation for number one tight end in a kinda unimpressive lsu history.

Now one more season of 350+ yards when teams are keyed in on him then he will be cemented as one of the overall best in lsu history and there went really be any arrangement arguments he kinda snuck up on ppl this year and he also did do it in what 2-3 extra games then the other guys did?

Dickson was a pro and played in the league. He played on a team that never threw the ball. Dude was a beast. Taylor will be better but Dickson deserves his props.

The catch to eat Bama is all I needed to see to make him the GOAT TE.

Frick Bama!

I don’t know where his season ranks, but I remember ranters bitching that he should be benched for Bech.

The one to watch is Pimpton

He looks good as a receiver. I never saw him block as a TE in all of those highlights. Each time he blocked it was as a WR against a scrawny kid. His offer list was not impressive, either. Texas and Auburn were his best offers aside from LSU. It looks like he has a lot of potential, but unless he has blazing speed, he will have to get a lot stronger and move inside.

I bet you’d be surprised to know Foster Moreau has already passed LaFleur in his NFL career for receptions, yards, and TDs even playing as 2nd TE with Waller.

Moreau always gets overlooked. There are people in this thread who think Moss is as good, or even better, than Foster Moreau, who is one of the best TEs in LSU history and is far better than Moss.

Moreau is about to sign his second contract and it will be a dandy - maybe 8 or 9 million per year!

Pretty much a typical freshman season.

Is it typical to have the best freshman year in the history of the school?

Mason Taylor would be drafted THIS year if he was eligible. He is already among the best TEs we’ve ever had at LSU.

I'd say he's up there with LaFleur as the best tight end we've ever had, already.

And next year I wouldn't be surprised if he was the best tight end in the country. He's got everything you could ask for at that position.

That's a bold statement. TE's today are a little different. I don't think Taylor is in the trenches run blocking like the past group because of the new age offenses. Really hard to compare the position.

He does need time in the S&C program which I stated in this thread, but his physical talent is going to get him early playing time.

From On3 scouting report:
quote:

Long-bodied tight end prospect who may arguably have the widest catch radius in the entire country. Complete mismatch in the redzone. Natural pass catcher that can high point the football with ease with strong hands. Smoother athlete that lacks ideal twitch but can separate with his wiggle and long strides. Willing and active blocker, raw power is evident but lacks necessary mass at this point for the next level. Will need a year or two to develop mass in lowers but has the frame and build to carry it. High floor prospect who could play an immediate role in an offense the day he steps on campus. Should turn into an every down player as he continues to develop his lower half.

Pump the brakes. No doubt he is a very good pass catcher, and an offensive weapon.

When you consider the offense we ran, the blocking required, and the leadership he brought, Lafleur is still oh head and shoulders above, for now...
