I am also sayng I bet they were not in the room during Miles' meeting to see if the offer was legit enough for UM to think Miles woudl truly consider it.

Look, I am no die hard Miles fan but these theories are ridiculous. If Michigan had their man (Hoke), why the hell have they wasted three weeks? SD St. finished their season on December 23rd, why would Michigan wait until now?
The simplest explanations are usually right. Michigan waited to come to Baton Rouge so they could gauge Miles' interest. They didn't waste all of this time and effort (or build their fanbases expectations) to put on a show. I am surprised Miles didn't accept and there is absolutely no chance Michigan wasted all of the time and effort to not offer him.
