Just let it go
The more you flood their email the more likely they will pounce when the next close SEC game comes into play
Let Oregon keep putting up 50 because we all know what happens when they face a real defense

I think for network marketing reasons ESPN wants to to protect the illusion of some type of parity between the conferences. The reality is that the team from the outside world going up against the SEC in the BCSNC is stepping into a buzz saw.

Probably true, but Mandel doesn't work for ESPN.

this is of course missing the point. Usc and stanford are unimpressive and they lost. Lsu makes a ton of mistakes but still beats a talented, fired up auburn at auburn. That is what mandel didn't mention

These national guys can't have it both ways. If Stanford losing to Washington and Southern Cal losing to Stanford are just "part of football" , LSU pounding Washington and still winning atAuburn shouldn't make LSU Music City Bowl bound.

Yes,I'm a homer. But the ESPN and others writing LSU off because of a road win, albiet a close one with a struggling team, is insane.

Well, it doesn't mean anything comparing LSU to USC, but who does that? Other than people obsessed with comparing LSU to USC? But taking that out of the equation, it does mean something to LSU.

It means our win over UW is better than people initially thought. Crushing a bad team is fairly meaningless, but it appears that UW is actually decent. I doubt they're gonna win the Pac-12 or anything, as their o-line is still pretty pitiful, but LSU completely dominated a UW team that will probably finish the season in the 7-5 range. Strength of schedule matters, and LSU's just got stronger. We need UW to be at least decent to have some quality OOC wins.

That said, it's meaningless if LSU doesn't take care of business.

For LSU for get any type of national respect, they'll have to beat 2 SEC teams on the road thus far into the season. Got it.
I wonder if any of these other teams have the same expectations.

seems that way

does not seem that way

these national peeps go on and on about how tough the Pac 12 is and how Stanford's front seven stack up with ANYONE in the SEC

and then they get beat by a team LSU beat by 38 and it's all

How hard is it for some of you to understand that the pollsters/media fear about another Alabama/LSU match-up in the title game and are preparing from day one to eliminate that scenario?! Just down play one team to keep them away from #2.
This is another season where there will be multiple one loss teams. Oregon, FSU, Clemson, LSU/Bama are all possible one loss teams when everything is said and done.

As the fourth quarter wore on Thursday night and Washington's upset of No. 8 Stanford became increasingly likely, the good people of Twitter made their high school teachers proud and broke out the transitive property.

LSU beat Washington 41-3. Washington is beating Stanford. How good is LSU?

Funny thing about the 'Transitive Property' in college football. Just because sometimes it doesn't work doesn't mean it NEVER works.

In THIS case, it works.

LSU > UW > Stanford > USC.

I think they shoud drop USC further down in the polls on Monday - even if the Trojans win - just because of what UW did last night.

I agree with Mandel to a point, then he drifts. Teams ARE different from week to week. You can't say for sure that LSU is that much better than USC. Washington was more inspired against Stanford than against LSU.

Certainly, though, you can say that LSU's win against Washington was impressive. Washington is a legitimate opponent.

What you can not do is diminish the win over Auburn based upon Auburn's performance in other games. The Auburn-LSU game is always a battle to the death. Auburn gave LSU its absolute best shot in front of a home crowd which was fantastic all night. The LSU win under those circumstances is a quality win as well.

Washington is a bad football team, plain and simple. Playing them wasn't a whole helluva lot tougher than playing Idaho or North Texas. They couldn't do anything more against us those 2 teams could. This loss is a bit of a blackeye for the P12. Stanford beat the PAC-12 poster child team, got moved into the Top 10 and then they lost to a team we demolished without even breaking a sweat. Just isn't an elite team in the P12 this year at all, period. Sorry Oregon, but we all know how things go for you when the games really matter. The cute offense doesn't work when the team has a pulse on defense, and you certainly aren't going to like it when your freshman QB has to go up against a legit defense.

I kind've agree. I've never bought into the logic of "A beats B, B beats C, who beat D, therefore A is better than D"

Each team presents a different challenge. Certain teams are tailor made to beat other teams and are susceptible to get exposed by other teams.

Yea the defense was good, but Auburn's offense is awful. They only put up 19 on Clemson, who just gave up half a hundy against FSU. LSU could be a great team, but that game was not impressive

Your team has never played in Auburn, in a conference opener vs a coaching staff fighting for their life.

If you can't use the Washington game as a gauge, don't use the Auburn game as one either. The UF matchup will be more telling.

From Udub piece.
quote:

LSU beat Washington 41-3. Washington is beating Stanford. How good is LSU?............
The teams change from week to week. They're better some games than others. They play differently at home than on the road. Not to rain on the parade, but the transitive property wasn't intended for football.

From his power ranking
quote:

failed to lead the offense on many scoring drives against a defense that gave up 28 points in regulation to Louisiana-Monroe on the same field a week earlier. Don't give me the LSU-Auburn-is-always-a-close-game excuse, either.

and

quote:

If, say, Washington -- a 41-3 loser to LSU -- beats Stanford Thursday, that's a huge plus for LSU. If Auburn continues to improve, then that result won't look so bad.

I'm glad Stu would never use the transitive property for college football.

Basically I hate college football reporters or analysts.

The same ones that say that the Big 10 is terrible...say the Bama's win against Michigan was fantastic.

Don't disagree with what he said about LSU.

Like he said.. When LSU travels down to the Swamp we will see how good this team is.

Florida has a fast defense. And a solid offense at the moment. Can Driskel or Mettenberger get it done?
