Bob Pettit was not only one of the greatest players in SEC history, he is an NBA Hall of Famer and one of the greatest scorers and rebounders in NBA history. At 6’9” in bare feet (which would equate to 6’10” today), Pettit averaged 26.4 points, 16.2 rebounds, and 3 assists per game in the NBA.
In his three seasons at LSU (Freshman were not allowed to play then), he averaged 25.5 points and 13.1 rebounds; 24.9 points and 13.9 rebounds as a junior; and 31.4 points and 17.3 rebounds as a senior, leading the SEC in scoring all three years, which included two SEC championship titles (second place finish as a sophomore). Pettit was three-times honored as an All SEC player and a two-time NCAA All American.
Pettit retired from the NBA after only 11 seasons (more money in banking back then), winning Rookie of the Year and making the All Star team 11 times, the All NBA first team 10 times and the second team once. He was the MVP of the league twice and was MVP of the NBA All Star Game four times. Pettit was the first NBA player to score over 20,000 points, never finishing below 7th in scoring in any year he played. Pettit could have easily added to that total, as he retired when he was still one of the best scorers and rebounders in the league. In Player Efficiency Rating (PER), Bob Pettit is 7th all time, trailing only Wilt Chamberlain, David Robinson, Shaquille O’Neal, Anthony Davis, LeBron James, and Michael Jordan.
In the Atlanta Hawks only NBA title, Pettit’s 50-point performance in the decisive game six of the 1958 Finals remains one of the most impressive individual performances of all time and was a playoff record at the time. It’s safe to say that Pettit would have led the Hawks to more championships if it hadn’t been for some guy named Bill Russell and the Boston Celtics. The Hawks lost to the Celtics in the finals three times.

Chris Jackson
Shaquille O’Neal
Bob Pettit
Durand “Rudy” Macklin
Ben Simmons (Sixth Man) could - arguably - play any of the five positions in a pinch off the bench.

Petit doesn't need a pity vote. He played against Chamberlain and Russell and more than held his own.

Sports illustrated did an imaginary all time tournament a while back. I think they had North Carolina over LSU in the finals if I recall.

I think he retired from the nba as the leading scorer and rebounder. Somebody correct me if I’m wrong.
He doesn’t get enough recognition around LSU, similar to Steve van buren. Weve got 2 hall of famers that most people don’t even know much about.

Hussle for the ball, pass it behind him while on the floor, no look, perfect pass.
Pete was the originator. CJ was a better PG, scorer and quicker. No room for Waters.

I know he used to be at all the basketball games and it's like no one even knew who he was - one of the greatest basketball players of all time.

Any list without the big tuba is wrong.

Logo? As in the NBA logo? You lost me. Jerry West played at West Virginia, not Kentucky.

He sure the hell did and I completely had a brain fart in thinking of Riley. Holy crap. Time to start checking myself on google I guess.
