I get that. And like I said, I'd be happier myself if Brantley gets the start - for several reasons.

But unlike GeauxBob, I also recognize I don't have all the relevant "facts".

IF in fact, a team of the best neurologists available, as well as the kid's parents AND the doctors for the insurance company are willing to sign off on him playing, then let him play.

This is like a political debate. Everyone comes in with their own biases and damn any argument that doesn't agree with them.

And, like most political debates, if the shoe were on the other foot, the arguments would be exactly reversed.

Ex-Gator Brantley's Concussion Sheds Light on Tebow's

Good NY Times article. I think this shows that the UF doctors are conservative.

Yet according to the "make 'em pay" crowd, we're supposed to assume the SAME doctor who ended Brantley's UF career is going to cave to the evil Meyer's plans for world domination and cavalierly send poor Tim out in harm's way.

If he plays, he's fair game. I hate to say it, but the old saying from "Rocky 4" says it all.

"If he dies, he dies." Yes its a bit overdramatic, but LSU has no reason to not go full out on Tebow and trip him and attack him like they would any other healthy QB. If he gets hurt by a legal hit, its all on Tebow and Meyer's decision to play.

My thing is he is not only putting himself at risk, but putting everyone else at risk of changing the game to make sure he doesn't get hurt. I assure you that you will see several bogus calls made throughout the game in the effort to protect Tebow. I don't think its going to be premeditated or anything like that, but in all honesty, the refs will call anything even close to his head, even if it is completely and obviously a LEGAL hit.

Either way, Meyer is doing his job as the good coach that he is. He's widening the Tiger's defensive prep to include Tebow...even if he knows he wont play.

Whatever...if Tebow steps on that field, or Brantley for that matter...the defense has to knock their jock strap off, if we are to win this game. They'll have to hold the Gators to low score...because our offense won't score a bunch. They need to blitz the hell out of both. Tebow is a cocky competitor; he wont back down. But you can damn well believe there are some legit fears in his mind.

High drama.

Yep. I did.

But that was after I won $26,001.

I hope this doesn't have a bad ending for the kid. The posts I've read durng the last two wks from medical professionals on many sites suggest this is a questionnable move.

And I'm sure your bias will be confirmed.

Would it be different if next week was his first week back?

I'm sure the opposing team would be making the same argument you are.

Of course it's "questionable."

Unbiased, informed medical opinions differ as to whether it's irresponsible.

You are going to tell me the UF medical staff is unbiased?

And I said obvious, blatant calls. I am sure we'll see some utter garbage calls like were seen in the Ravens/Pats game last week to protect Brady.

I'm with you on that jlc...would be a lifetime suck, if Tebow got hurt bad.

IMHO...Tebow should sit this one out...for the greater good.

I will. Especially considering they brought in an outside expert from Pittsburgh to do much of the evaluation.

I hope this turns out to be a great competitive game. But I do have serious concerns for Tebow and I agree with GeauxBob and some of the others...the wrong message is being sent.

Yes, I am sure they aren't hoping for Tebow to play since it helps their chances.

Again, I think it is utterly stupid to play him so soon after the injury and when he hadn't even been cleared to practice (without contact) until 4 days ago.

That in my opinion is irresponsible. Again, its their choice to play him, but LSU better not be penalized for hitting him legally because he's coming off an injury, and if he gets hurt, its not to be blamed on LSU unless it was from a legitimate cheap shot.

Doctors have said that once a player is clear they're no more likely to suffer another concussion playing immediately than if they were to wait. IE, if a player is cleared after one week, it wouldn't make any difference if he waited a month.

So why wouldn't we play him if the team of doctors fully clear him?

Hoping he can play is not the same thing as altering their prognosis so that he will play.

Again, as other have stated I'll trust the team of experts that know what they're talking about over opinions on a message board.
