You know that Tebow has only played in one 4th quarter this year, right?

Tim, I don't really fault Meyer for that. It was known that Tebow and the WRs had struggled this year and felt they needed the prep time. This happened in the 3rd quarter not the 4th or last 10 minutes.

If you really want to see stupidity, look no further than Nick Saban pretty much permanently damaging Ben Wilkerson's career by keeping him in late in the 4th quarter of a secured win against Vandy AT HOME!

The very fact that this is even being debated is sad.

There is no way he should be playing, but if he does, I don't want to hear one word when he gets put into a coma from post concussion syndrome.

GeauxBob, I agree with you for the most part. Head injuries are different on a case to case basis and never has Meyer, or anyone for that matter stated that Tebow would be played if not 100% cleared and deemed fit to play without being at a higher risk.

I agree though, this is bigger than Tebow and this game. The kid's health is at stake and we all hope the correct decision is made.

the stupidity started way before today...when you have a 28 pt. lead against a weak kentucky team, why leave him in? the only one to blame is meyer...he's worse than bob stoops when it comes to running up the score on weak opponents...he gets what he deserves.

apparently, when they scored on that drive, he was gonna come out (supposedly).

I still want to see some reliable info backing up this claim that the LoL docs have cleared him. Where did you hear that?

So what are the potential risks to Tebow..just another concussion, coma, death?

Or how about Prothro's broken leg late in the 4th quarter against UF a few years back? that was a shame, the kid had endless amount of potential and the injury devastated his season.

T blow was never hurt as bad as they made it sound. They saw it as an opportunity to keep us wondering.

Yeah Gator Spiff, I think we both agree. I just don't like the precedent being set with all the he will/will not play. In reality, you should err very much on the side of caution with such injuries. Just cause he's cleared, doesn't mean he should play. That's my bigger issue, because its like well if he SEEMS okay, he'll play although almost EVERY doctor will say its not worth the risk just because he's cleared.

My guess is he doesn't play though, and this is a game.

I like Tebow. The kid is a warrior, great athlete, great leader, and very good human being. I am not someone who thinks he's some God, especially since I am not a fan of missionary work, but this is a very good kid that is a delight to watch out there on the football field.

All of the above, as well as permanent disability, paralysis, speech problems, loss of motor skills, stroke, and even more fun stuff like loss of bowel and bladder control. All kinds of stuff the NFL loves.

Yes, the prothro injury was much worse, because that team was clicking already in the pass game, and worst off all the kid was never able to play again.

Had a lot of talent and was a hard worker.

Very kind words GeauxBob.

I just hope that "cleared" means more than just able.

The worst part about all of this is that I've never seen a player lose consciousness for more than 10 seconds and come back in less than 3 weeks from the injury. It's just not accepted and not done.

In the end, I just think because its Tebow and people seem to have this legend complex of him because he played with a fracture in his leg that he is superhuman and will heal faster.

He is just as human as the rest of us, and the hit he took was vicious. The snapping back of his head was more violent than most that lead to concussions and loss of consciousness, especially to blows to the back of the head.

Actually what is in the original poster's post that you disagree with. Its absurd he "might" play. That it is a "game day decision" - blah blah blah - is plenty enough reason to just sit him.

With his style, If he plays, its fricking absurd. There are numerous opportunities for him to take a helmet to helmet hit today by a pretty damn good improving LSU defense. As such, we might well be treated to a macabre end of his career tonight, and there will not even be a discussion about where he goes in the draft - his career will be over.

I cannot believe this is even an option at the moment. I like Tebow - think hes great for the game - and he should have won the Heisman last year as well - no doubt.

As such, I want to see this guy prove all the dumb arse pundits wrong that say he isn't a good pro prospect, yet the same dumb asses thought (prevalently here) Jamarcus Russell was.

Meyer, I really believe, is just using some gamesmanship here - if its a close decision then its no decision. He doesn't play today, so he can play many future games.

Yeah, I can't get on board with this idea that the injury wasn't as bad as everyone thinks. It was very serious. I was skeptical until I saw the vomiting ... that wasn't stomach flu, kids, that was elevated intracranial pressure. And GeauxBob, you're so right, it sets a terrible example, this ruse that he "might" be OK to play. How many high school players are going to look at all this and think they can return to action way too soon after an injury?

I understand it's high-stakes gamesmanship and Meyer has to play the hand he's dealt, but I just think it's irresponsible to even hint at the idea that it would be acceptable for someone to return to strenuous, risky activity so soon after a head injury.

Well said by many on this thread - one of the more mature examples seen this day.

Dude, most concussions occur on QBs and on pass attempts not runs. That is a statistical fact.
Cause most of them pass or handoff WAY more than they run the ball.

In an unrelated matter, I just witnessed a "Crompton for Heisman" sign being held up by a Vol fan just now - priceless.
