After last year's MNC game, the Oklahoma message board called that the "Meerkat Offense"

I think it was 5:18, too.

And it's a good point, if you had just stuck to it.

Wow, so if another doctor's wife makes a claim, rather than an actual doctor that has both dealt with personally and worked on players having concussions says its silly to have him back this early, you believe a doctor's wife. Why? because she supports your side of the argument.
No, because that particular doctor understands how far a physician can go in offering an opinion on a case based on the limited FACTS at hand.
You overstepped that.
You personally insulted the player at hand, by calling him an idiot, then said you didn't.
You've given no reason to take you seriously on this, and every reason not to.

Good to see there aren't any more crazies on this board than any others.
Y'all have a good game!

Offering an opinion of playing it cautious and safe is actually the more respected medical opinions.
It ain't a medical opinion. It's an opinion anyone could have whether or not they're in the medical field.
Read the post above by the women who's spouse is a neurologist.
That's as far as anyone who isn't intimately acquainted with the case can go and still have their opinion be considered a "medical" opinion.
And no matter how nasty you want to get, calling someone an idiot is an insult. Saying you didn't is a lie.
Face it, you're just looking for excuses (overcautious refs) for the whipping your team is about to endure.

if he's stupid enough to risk his health, and so are his coaches and team doctors, then so be it. He's not some warrior if he gets hurt worse by the way for trying to play. He's an idiot who set a horrible example, especially as a supposed Christian, by making a single game of football more important than his health.

Saying he shouldn't be playing as my medical opinion is not the same as insulting the kid.
Just because you work in the medical field (if, in fact, you do), doesn't make your opinion a "medical opinion", since you don't have all the FACTS, regarding this particular case, do you?
No M.D. worth his salt would offer an opinion on whether Tebow should play with the incomplete facts you have at your disposal.

I hope this doesn't have a bad ending for the kid. The posts I've read durng the last two wks from medical professionals on many sites suggest this is a questionnable move.
Of course it's "questionable."
Unbiased, informed medical opinions differ as to whether it's irresponsible.

My thing is he is not only putting himself at risk, but putting everyone else at risk of changing the game to make sure he doesn't get hurt. I assure you that you will see several bogus calls made throughout the game in the effort to protect Tebow. I don't think its going to be premeditated or anything like that, but in all honesty, the refs will call anything even close to his head, even if it is completely and obviously a LEGAL hit.
And I'm sure your bias will be confirmed.
Would it be different if next week was his first week back?
I'm sure the opposing team would be making the same argument you are.

Ex-Gator Brantley's Concussion Sheds Light on Tebow's Good NY Times article. I think this shows that the UF doctors are conservative.
Yet according to the "make 'em pay" crowd, we're supposed to assume the SAME doctor who ended Brantley's UF career is going to cave to the evil Meyer's plans for world domination and cavalierly send poor Tim out in harm's way.

I think he would be putting any other kid's name in there if it involved a head injury...that's the jist of his argument.
I get that. And like I said, I'd be happier myself if Brantley gets the start - for several reasons.
But unlike GeauxBob, I also recognize I don't have all the relevant "facts".
IF in fact, a team of the best neurologists available, as well as the kid's parents AND the doctors for the insurance company are willing to sign off on him playing, then let him play.
This is like a political debate. Everyone comes in with their own biases and damn any argument that doesn't agree with them.
And, like most political debates, if the shoe were on the other foot, the arguments would be exactly reversed.

The fact is that if he gets injured by a legal, clean hit by LSU, I won't have any sympathy for him, Meyer, UF or its doctors. It would show how stupid they are. I'd feel for the kid, but it was his decision. I do not, however, hope he gets hurt.
So what?! You can put ANY other player's name in there and make the exact same statement.
What you're basically saying is if a player gets hurt by a legal hit, that's the nature of the game.
Big deal.

if he's stupid enough to risk his health, and so are his coaches and team doctors, then so be it.
Again, the same thing can be said for anyone who plays the game.
Sheesh.

Agreed catsigater, my point was more over that he wasn't ready one week prior to the game, not that he was asymptomatic for less than a week before the game. My point was that he hadn't been asymptomatic and taken full practice one week prior. This is the metric I've always gone by for minimum needed to get clearance.
Ok. Thanks for clearing that up.

He should have confidence in his back up QB.. I mean afterall, most Florida fans think Brantley can run the Florida offense at Death Valley just as successfully as Tebow
No one's said that. We've said Brantley was capable of running it well enough to win.

Furthermore, the fact he hasn't had any symptoms since Monday show that he hasn't been clear of symptoms for more than a week.
That's logically not a good statement. The fact that he hasn't had symptoms since Monday, doesn't preclude him being asymptomatic prior to Monday.
Personally, I'd be ok if he sits this week. I kind of hope he does, but let's at least be rational.

This is a great opportunity for a coach to really show that a player's health is much more important than the game.
If that were the case, we wouldn't play the game, would we?

Channel 6 Orlando's David Pingalore is reporting that Florida quarterback Tim Tebow will "definitely" play Saturday at LSU, two weeks after suffering a concussion. Pingalore is citing team sources. Florida spokesman Steve McClain said he cannot confirm the report. Two sources told the Sentinel this week that Tebow was on track to be medically cleared to play, and that the feeling among much of the team was he would play. John Brantley, father of UF backup quarterback Johb Brantley, said the starting quarterback would be a "game time decision, as did Urban Meyer. Stay tuned.
