If we bring in a stud HC, recruits wil be lining up to play here. A new, good hire will help recruiting, not hurt it. And you think a short term contract with a HC who went 3-21 in conference in his only head coaching gig us good for recruiting?!?!

Orgeron admitted he was not ready when he coached at Ole Piss! He has learned from his mistakes. His last record as a HC was 6-2 at USC with a team that was horrible!

By the end of the season, most recruits have already decided where they will play in college! Some may follow a new HC to LSU, but again, you are counting on major uncertainty!

We'll have a coach about 6 weeks before signing day.

Dumbest shite I've ever heard. You didn't mention the question if he's a good coach or not. Only the non-important Crap.

One year of Coach O will set this program back 3-5 years.

O has an atrocious losing record as a head coach. He was fired from Ole Miss. He was passed over by USC, where he ended his interim tenure with a blowout loss to UCLA. And so far as I know, no other premiere school has seriously considered him as a head coach since.

He has much to prove before we even entertain making him the permanent coach.

Ok. This is not what anyone should do. You weigh your options if you are in lsu's position right now. You don't write coach o off for sure. He has his opportunity to win the job. Let's see how this season plays out, then make our move. We will get a solid coach no matter what. If orgeron is the worst case scenario for us then I am happy with that bc I believe he does have a bright future ahead of him. For all of the "look how bad he did at ole miss" crowd...There's a difference between coaching at fricking ole miss when they were bad and coaching at lsu in our current situation. Also, that was a while back and I believe and he has personally stated that he learned alot from his experiences at ole miss and usc. Geaux tigers.

Oh, gosh, then that changes my opinion. Let's give him the keys to our program. I'll just ignore the results of his only permanent HC gig. He knows he made mistakes before, so he's qualified now.

Good god, you people.

Haha coach o scares the shite out of florida that's for sure...so much that they basically refused to play us because of their fear. Bunch of pussies.

When you go to a job interview, do you tell them you suck or that youve learned you lesson? He has told us what he thinks we want hear.

He has PROVEN zilch.

I agree with you to an extent. It's not out of the realm of possibility for him to have learned from his coaching experiences though. Based strictly on what we have seen and heard from the players so far in this 2 week period is very encouraging and exciting. The team looked totally different against mizzou...they looked pretty damn good actually and if he can continue to produce like this then why would you have a problem with him getting the job here? Because he talks funny and is a bit over the edge? I personally don't give a shite as long as he wins games for lsu.

This makes sense! I agree with this. My title included the word "immediately". What I really should have said is don't wait till the end of the season. "O" will likely lose one or two games, although I hope he runs the table. Nobody can beat Alabama right now. However if the team plays great and still loses a game, it does not mean Orgeron will have failed. He will be tweaking the rest of the season. The measure of success will be how the team plays, not whether he goes 8-0. If he does win out, it will be a "no-brainer"!

Pro Tip - If you ever obtain a job that allows you to be in charge of hiring, consider hiring a person based on how good they can be, not how bad could they be.

First off, the team was completely juiced up last game because of the situation. Second, this is one of the most talented teams we've had. They should destroy mizzou. Just because miles couldn't doesn't mean O is automatically a hero.

These few games just don't show me enough about building and sustain a top notch team.

Do you have a lot of confidence that he will win 11 games with a squad not as experienced and talented, like our 2014 team? Because I think Herman or jimbo could.

Be needs to go to a small school first, then we can take him back.

That's a jackassish thing to say. I love those things about him.

NO .. not yet.
let's see the consistency in the effort and play and play style.
The wins will eventually come with that.
THEN, I would give 2 year contract.

and YES his passion for LSU matters to me.

Does saban give a shot about Bama? Does Herman give a shot about your in. Do any top flight coaches have a personal passion for thier school?

It doesn't improve their coaching ability one iota
