You don’t walk a guy to face the teams leading hitter so you can “play for the force”

I swear some of you have never watched a game past little league

You walk their best player there and then you can play the infield back and have a force at any base.. heck maybe you can even strike out the next batter.. it’s just a far more easier situation to deal with that pitching to their best hitter and having the pressure on your pitcher to have to “strike him out.”

Doesn’t matter.

With two outs, an open base and his run being meaningless, you put him on. If only to set up the force. If the next guy beats you, then so be it.

Once he had two strikes on him there should have been zero pitches over the plate

2 bases open. You walk both.

Easy.

You forgot about the force at all bases.

Your thinking is why you’re an internet coach and not a real coach.

2 outs, 2 bases open.

This is why Lester Earl is a clown poster folks.

That’s logical if Garza doesn’t have that passed ball a few pitches before

So you have a catcher who can’t catch the ball? You’re not looking for a strikeout Lester.

Again folks, take notes. This is why Lester is a clown poster.

You’re right. It’s better to pitch to their best hitter.

You take the bat out of the best hitter’s hands when you can. Always.

There are a lot of tough decisions you face as a manager in a baseball game.

A lot of them.

But not this one. You walk the guy to set up a force. You walk the guy that doesn't mean anything other than putting yourself in a superior position defensively by walking him.

It's a no brainier even before you realize the bonus of him being the best hitter.

You just said you would walk both Mendoza and Martin to load the bases. That would be a horrible decision for multiple reasons.
