Just watching the spring game again, one thing bugging me since spring started was Teuhema to OT. In spring game he held a lot that wasn't called, part of it was Key just being too quick.

Still wondering about that spot though. Don't get me wrong, he is an awesome mauler. I loved watching him since recruiting and he can obviously play guard since he started as a freshman. Seems like he will struggle at pass protection though since he is lacking that lateral quickness.

What say the rant?

Pocic would be getting LT reps this spring, it's unfortunate he was out. I really like him at LT, Teuhema at LG, Clapp at C, Boutte/Brumfield at RG & Malone/Weathersby at RT

Would prefer he stay at G. I think there are better T prospects on the team than him.

Yeah, I don't remember if it was Teuhema or Valentine, but one of those guys, maybe both, were no match for Key....

I like Pocic at LT. He struggled at center against the bigger D-line's last year because he's so damn tall.

He was getting stood up and pushed back pretty bad in the Bama game. Then again most of our O-line was

I'm not sure teuhema has quick enough feet/length necessary to pass protect against the elite defensive ends in this league. I would expect pocic to be there when the season starts.

The coaches apparently really want Pocic at center and that's where Pocic sees himself on the next level. They're working double time to get Chidi ready, apparently. I'd have to guess Pocic is their insurance policy worst case.

hard to say.

Key is sorta bad arse.

I watched a lot of good tackles only get by holding him.

Anytime you move a big mauler guard out to OT you worry a bit about pass rush and being in space. It's just such a different nuance than OG. It's going to take some reps for sure but the nice thing about the offense is that we shouldn't see too many 3rd and longs so won't have DEs teeing off too much.

That's a good point. Plus, it helps put power on that left side Miles likes to run so often.

Grimes said as much in an interview a couple weeks ago. He said Teuhema will have to rely on technique if he wants to play tackle

Here's what he said about Maea playing tackle:

quote:

He’s not an extremely long player particularly for a left tackle. I think he’s got the kind of feet that can make up for that, but he’s not what you’d typically design to play that position. Because of that, he’s got to do things technically really, really well in order to succeed out there.

Dont forget he may get some TE help. I would keep Maea at LT and keep developing him. If it's a failed project, we always know he can slide back inside to guard

That brings up another problem though. Jeter can't really block, which is also how Gordon could've helped out. But even a chip helps so who knows.

Cross training linemen is always a good idea, especially in spring

Didn't look quick enough to me to play in space at LT. Looks better inside at G. I think he's a future All-SEC at G.

What do you think Pocic would play in the NFL? OT? Would you draft a guy with Zero film and no reps in at least 4 years at a position? No doubt he's a legit NFL talent, and I don't have a crystal ball but he is a solid OC so why wouldn't he play there?
