SIAP... I guess it’s good and bad. Good in that yet again we are one of college football’s premier non-conference games, bad in that ticket prices for this game are ridiculous.

Saturday Down South: LSU vs Texas Hottest ticket of 2019 CFB season

FanBuzz article

quote:

According to a new StubHub report, via Saturday Down South, the top-10 game in Week 2 is the most in-demand ticket of the entire college football season. That’s pulling ticket sales data through the middle of August 2019

quote:

The two programs have only met once since the 1964 season, with the most recent game coming in the 2003 Cotton Bowl. The Longhorns won that game and currently hold the all-time edge in the series against LSU at 9-7-1. Adding another layer of intrigue is the fact LSU nearly hired Tom Herman before the Longhorns announced the former Houston coach as the new leader of the Texas program. Following that incident, LSU turned around and handed the head coach job in Baton Rouge to then-interim coach Ed Orgeron. According to StubHub, the LSU at Texas game is outselling the Notre Dame at Georgia game, the second-most in-demand ticket in the country, by 68%.

quote:

Here is a breakdown of the top 10 most in-demand college football tickets for the 2019 season, according to StubHub:

#1 LSU at Texas on Sept. 7
#2 Notre Dame at Georgia on Sept. 21
#3 Florida vs. Miami on Aug. 24
#4 Auburn vs. Oregon on Aug. 31
#5 Michigan at Penn State on Oct. 19
#6 Notre Dame at Michigan on Oct. 26
#7 Oklahoma vs. Texas on Oct. 12
#8 Texas A&M at Clemson on Sept. 7
#9 Nebraska at Colorado on Sept. 7
#10 LSU at Alabama on Nov. 9

Hopefully it's all LSU fans buying. Would be awesome to minimize that home field advantage

There will be lots of LSU fans, for sure, but Texas fans are looking at this game as their program’s biggest home game in over a decade. Some are even saying it’s their biggest non-conference home game in their program’s history.

Texas only giving LSU 3,000 tix will probably limit the number of LSU fans a tad. LSU fans are resourceful, but that’s such a small paltry number to give a visiting FBS team for a big game.

It’s totally their right (UT), but next season LSU better be planning to give them exactly what they gave us for this game... 3,000 tix. Not to be spiteful or get revenge, it’s just fair is fair.., they set the bar at 3,000, so be it, that’s what they get in Tiger Stadium in 2020. And same placement that they gave us... all visiting tickets in upper deck corner.

I think Texas fans are as excited to have a fan base coming that knows how to have fun as much as they are about the game.

Interesting that LSU and Texas are the only two teams with two games in the top 10. LSU vs Texas, Oklahoma vs Texas and LSU vs Alabama.

I went to the last LSU Tx game in the Cotton Bowl. Tx fans have zero concept of having fun. We stayed in the Texas hotel on New Year’s Eve and the place was a morgue.
The bar closed early!
We rode over to the LSU hotel and it was an absolute mad house with partying.

This is all based on Texas screwing LSU with the Ticket allotment. If 8,000 extra tickets were distributed to LSU, as with SEC games, the demand would not be anywhere near what it is on the secondary market.

Just FYI, I got this message from LSU this morning for those interested in Texas@LSU 2020:

quote:

The contract that is signed for the Texas game calls for each team to provide 3,000 tickets for the visiting team. Texas will receive 3,000 tickets for the game in Tiger Stadium and the tickets will be placed in the upper levels only for this game. The Big XII has different standards and rules for providing tickets for their institutions. The SEC mandates that 2,000 lower level tickets be held for each visiting SEC school. The Big XII does not have a similar rule, so they usually place visiting team tickets in their upper levels. Texas will receive the similar ticket placements that our fans are receiving for their game here in 2020.

quote:

Texas will get the same amount of tickets and ticket location as we do there. Texas wanted to stick with the number of tickets they give for big 12 games. We agreed since we will only have to give them 3500 here. Take care. Verge Ausberry, Jr. Executive Deputy Director of Athletics

Just got 2 really good tickets yesterday. Hope that means things are starting to open up a little. Would be nice to not be the only purple (white? Gold?) in the sea of Orange (white?).

That’s my assumption, too. Will be nice to be able to spot the LSU fans scattered throughout the stadium.

Interesting that you forget that LSU VS Florida is also a top 10 game.

Great news.

I was worried that Woodward and Ausberry would pull an Alleva ‘Aw shucks, let’s be hospitable and give them our normal allotment’ but I’m glad that’s not the case, i guess i was overly conditioned to the Alleva way of doing business.

Same here, i was gonna wear purple anyway.. but i think we should get the word out that this game is a ‘Purple Out’ game... shouldn’t be hard to do.

Tickets are less than $300 now on stubhub. But you’ll still get raped with their fees to make it more. Tickets should come down quite a bit up to game time. I’m not expecting to pay more than I did for last years Alabama game. That was the most expensive ticket I’ve ever bought though.
