Yeah right. I am sure that Saban is telling players that if they come to Bama, they can get high as much as they want as opposed to LSU who has restrictions on weed smoking. You are a douchebag.

Probably, but Collins played his butt off.

I agree that he played well, but let's not forget the receiving corps he was going up against.

it's a recruiting tool saban and sumlin are using against LSU

You're telling me that Saban sits across from a recruit and tells him, "Say, brah, you know Les and them are gonna test you for weed, but we'uns at Bama are gonna let you toke."

I'd bet that these guys watched the game and vowed never to miss something like that again. Welcome home, prodigal children.

I agree. Just because you're technically not supposed to toke up doesn't mean that they have to constantly surprise them with tests either. If you think they're coming to meetings or practice high then sure but otherwise chill. As long as it's not affecting their play or grades then what does it matter what they do in their private time. By the way, This pertains to marijuana and drinking. I am not condoning cocaine and hookers for our players.

what exactly is the mindset behind making up some extreme example, one that even you know is completely idiotic, and then acting as if it makes some sort of point.

no, very obviously saban isn't saying that, but yes, he probably has his assistants allude to it. its the REC who just comes out and says it.

what on earth makes you think he wouldn't? he's been completely upfront about pushing every recruiting rule as far as he can. if the dead period doesn't specifically prohibit skype, he'll skype. if it allows you to incidentally "bump" into a recruit in public, he'll go to that recruits high school and act surprised to see him there (as he did with Keiwone Malone). if there's a way to exploit paperwork and get a waiver to hold an entire camp during the dead period, he'll do that (and he did). and after all that, if you don't work out, he'll process you through and give your scholarship to someone else. don't worry about weed though, he won't test you for that because it can only cause trouble.

and by the way he's at bama, a place which has made it perfectly clear over the years that their only use for the violations book is to see what exactly it is that they need to work around.

so no, he doesn't tell kids they can "toke", but he probably does get that point across by saying "we treat you like an adult" or some version of that.

if that could be the difference between winning and losing, which is exactly what recruiting is, what about anything that he's ever done makes you think he wouldn't?

Whether people want to accept it or not, weed is illegal. Just because some people think it shouldn't be, doesn't mean these players should be excused when they do it. If they do it, they are idiots in my book.

If they want to smoke weed, don't play football as a means to go to college. Pay your own way, and do that crap all you want. If you choose to be on scholarship, then shut your mouth and follow the rules. It's not that hard to do.

just because Robinson got high doesn't make him a bad kid, it actually makes him a perfectly normal kid, but the fact that he was suspended might make an NFL team think hes a bad kid. that might cost him a position in the draft and that will cost him money, which is the last thing any 5-star wants to hear about the college they choose.

So, if they are never tested in college and they have an impeccable behavior record, then fail the NFL's pre-draft drug screening, would their draft placement not be hurt just as bad? If so, then in my opinion, the other school's recruiting tactic is fundamentally flawed.
