Agreed. I hope CBK evaluates the entire DEF coaching staff as there is merit in keeping all or some of them....his eval/his call. The LSU D improved throughout the course of the season, and did so with a depleted depth chart. Credit to those coaches AND players for working tirelessly, blocking out the noise, and showing up big against top 25 opponents (Bama, ARK, TAM).

So you would leave and go play under yet a different coordinator.

Seriously… this has been a non-stop talking point but I’ve never seen anything from within the program that said Orgeron was actually dictating to the DC what defense to run.

What are we since Lane told Ed why it sucked?

Top 5 I broke it down in a post last week and other than points allowed, They did better in every category vs A&M.

ND's was only 30th. I think Jones could get us in the 30 area next year, if allowed to stay.

10 may be a stretch but I don’t think you understand the disparity in cfb. Nebraska finished with a top 20 class just last year with 0 5*s 4 4*s and 16 3*. We had 2,16 and 5

I was referring to recruiting only. Based on talent on our roster we had the 6th best. That doesn’t take into account injuries. The 10th team is usc.

Amazing? Go look at what our defense used to do every single year under Les Miles. 61st is not amazing, it is sad that we are even happy about it. We need to be Top 10 in defense or you can forget about winning anything, ever!

Exactly....I remember a time when we were mad if D fell below top 20. Now we are celebrating 57?

So, you never listened to Orgeron talk about his love for the 4-3 defense. He was happy Aranda left because he preferred the 4-3.

Why are we so quick to get rid of him? Would love the Freeman hire and just posted on the CCB about Doug Belk as a replacement, but honestly, for continuity he'd be a top keep. After the bowl game, LSU could realistically get inside the top 50 in scoring defenses which I think is unbelievable when I remember last year and early this year. For a little more, we were 124 out of 127 in total defense last year. We are 61st as of right now. That's nothing short of amazing.

And with several starters out including Stingley and Ricks

So misleading considering Orgeron forced Jones to run the exact same formation 95% of the time the first 8 games.

Ed was just the worst, plain and simple. LSU went from the outhouse to the penthouse when it shitcanned him and hired Kelly.

I think a thorough house cleaning is in order. Would Saban or Kirby keep him?

What exactly is the common denominator between this year in last? How has the defense and its scheme altered so much at the drop of a dime? Who’s idea was to live and die by that 4-3 without the personnel for it? It’s obvious. Jones learned under Zimmer and Aranda. It’s ridiculous to consciously believe this man doesn’t know how/was reluctant to blitz. In his last dc stint that what he did. In his pre-season interview, this is the defense he spoke about. What more proof you need? A sound bite of them in a coaches meeting?

Saban is gonna keep Golding and he is average at best with all those five stars. Same arky defense we held to 16, dropped 35 on em. And jimbo the stone man gave em 40. If anything, Saban or Kirby would have done things to enhance the dc experience and help them grow. They expect a lot out of their coaches but are also defensive savants themselves. Can’t learn much from O comparatively.

Were we though? Aranda was here was 4 years. In that time, we had the number 5, 14, 26, and 32 scoring defenses in the country, and the only thing that salvaged 2019 was the 4 game stretch. Aranda didn’t get worse as a coach. The talent didn’t drop off. Who took over his first year?

Would the nega tigers rather have a DC that has proven himself vs the best players (SEC) or someone who has made a reputation outside the conference.

Anyone have any thoughts that maybe everything happened the opposite of what most are saying?

Maybe it was Jones defense early in the season and O finally said f this… and changed it up?

You realize you don’t just go from 124th to 10th in one offseason, right?

Let’s start with the No 1 defense and work our way down to the 50s.
