Instantly noticed and loved the amount of receptions for 10+ yards on average. A few 3 for 50+s.
Looking good at wr for a position that was lacking.
Wonder if etlings low numbers had anything to do with the o line. No mention of the o line

I still feel like even if Myles Brennan is showing up Etling, we still shouldn't start a freshman qb.

Why? Play the best QB. Clemson did it. A&M did it. FSU did it. Washington, USC, UCLA, Notre Dame, Georgia, Texas did it, etc, etc, etc.

Play the best guy, regardless of age or experience.

in Miles scrimmage stats this translates to 16 for 20 5 TD passes

Dee Anderson has supposedly been sidelined with an injury. Drake Davis has lots of potential and has been working on receiving kicks and punts. He still needs to fine tune and polish his technique catching the ball. (All the info I posted I read from various sites)

Probably had to do with LSUS defense

Only Jax St., Mizzou, Arky, UF, A&M and Louisville threw for less than 50% completion rate against our D last year, and we're replacing two first round picks in the secondary. The "it's LSU's defense" excuse is crap. Besides Arky(Allen was decent), all of those teams had horrible throwing QB's.

Completion percentages never tell the entire story. He could be throwing the ball away due to pressure, maybe there were drops, maybe the defense sniffed out screens and he just threw the ball in the dirt.

Against LSU last season, what were the QBRs for..

Lamar Jackson
Chad Kelly
Jalen Hurts
Austin Allen
Drew Lock

Etling was our best QB on the roster last year and is still this year, due to experience. He got comfortable the last few games of last year and IMO was the most comfortable QB we've seen since Met. Only difference is, our D is much better.

The leader of this offense is going to be confusing the opposing D and Guice anyway. Give me the QB who is a senior over the true freshman, but give Brennan MEANINGFUL snaps in as many games as possible. I still like LSU's chances to win the west with Etling.

But if Brennan is the better player, true frosh or not, play him.
I'd be scared to death of putting him out there at just 200 lbs behind that Grimes Kleenex OL. He'll get destroyed. If he was a more solid 225 or so, I'd feel a little better.

I'm not even trying to do the "put in the backup" or "let the freshman play" schtick, but I wonder about the qb situation after today. Was this just an aberration of a practice by Etling? Is the presence of Brennan tightening the proverbial noose? Were the picks just a result of great strategy by Aranda or great individual play by a DB? Was the 8 for 18 a legit <50% performance or did he not receive much help? Not very promising.

Jeezus. Etling had a good scrimmage. Threw well and hax a few drops and very well contested balls vs the #1 dbs. Oline struggled to protect.

The other QBs operated vs 2nd and 3rd D. Looked like a JV scrimmage. It was a who's who of "whose not ready". Etling finished the scrimmage with a situational drive. 1 minute was on the clock with obvious passing downs. This skews the stats. Interestingly, I've seen the QBs throw INTs in scrimmages before. This is the 1st time ive seen CEO release that info.

Etling was clearly the better QB today. Stats in a scrimmage are misleading because they hide the situational nature of a scrimmage. For example, the scrimmage had a rolling clock. The 2s were on the field with 3 minutes left vs 2s and 3 defense. The secondary loosened and gave up easy underneath passes. 2 offense converts once then 3 and out. The 1s come back on to the field with 1 minute left, the ball at offenes own 45. Lower percentage down field throws were necessary in obvious passing downs. Result more incompletions. Conclusion: calm down.

LSU247 Has the Scrimmage Scoop by Dignan
For once, it's nice to hear that "offense dominated the day."

I know Arranda will have the defense ready, but it's been so damn long since our offense wasn't a liability

The offense dominated scrimmages most of the spring, except the slring game

Already? If by pasding up, you mean step on campus, put on a uniform, and given far more reps from day one? Yes thats suprising. Narcisse had limited reps in the spring and now fall. This staff is a pro style minded. Thats it.

Glass half full, maybe they had Etling working on making the hard throws. Maybe the D knew what was coming. In some ways a scrimmage can be easier than a live game, but in some ways it can be harder.

Exactly. We have no context. All his incompletions could have been from 3rd and 15. We don't know what they were working on. It could have been a lot better--or even a lot worse--than 8-18 looks on its face.

Smart man. I was there, overall DE looked more solid.
