If we're going to sink money into these sports we might as well win. bilj....
Agreed, agreed for all sports at LSU....sure not all can win all the time, but we should not settle for losing too much...for lots of reasons, we WILL always have sports that are considered "minor" so we mine as well do our best to win in them....
Most, if not all, schools can't afford to have top five budgets in every sport. Do you know how much it would cost to have elite-level commitment in every sport? There's no doubt that every program could compete for national and conference championships if it had far and away the biggest budget in the nation like the baseball team does, but who could afford that?

5 pages for the women's tennis coach being let go? I didn't read the thread. What happened?
Did this turn into a track coach thread?

All LSU has some of the worst non revenue generating sports facilities in the SEC. It's not like we can't afford it. Even Alabama is building a new swim facility. We aren't keeping up.

LSU needs to renovate the indoor and outdoor track facilities after they build the indoor tennis facility.

And how many LSU "fans" that actually live in BR and surrounding areas will actually attend these events? When I started at LSU back in '68, we were lucky to have 75 people attend a baseball game. When high schools in BR played at the old Pete Goldsby, the high schools pulled in more fans than LSU did. Produce a winner and they will come. In order to produce a winner, the fans have to show some interest in the sport.

For the track program, a new indoor facility would be more important than an outdoor facility. Bernie Moore is probably the second or third best outdoor facility in the conference and one of the top ten in the nation. FYI, Arkansas is the gold standard for both indoor and outdoor facilities.

Long-time LSU Head Women’s Tennis Coach Tony Minnis has filed a lawsuit against the university. In May, LSU announced it would not renew Minnis’s contract with the university.
Minnis is seeking damages from LSU. Also named in the suit:
The Board of Supervisors at LSU
Miriam Segar, Senior Women’s Administrator
Joe Alleva, LSU’s Athletic Director
Eddie Nunez, Associate Athletic Director
Minnis claims he is the victim of race-based harassment and that he made as much as $30,000 less than white coaches in similar positions. Minnis also claims when he approached LSU Athletic Director Joe Alleva with his concerns, Alleva threatened to fire him. But when his contract wasn’t renewed, Minnis tells NBC33 he wasn’t given any indication on why he was losing his job. Minnis’s Assistant Coach, Lisa Jackson, also was not renewed. Jackson is now serving as the Head Women’s Tennis Coach at the University of Alabama Birmingham.
Minnis tells NBC33, he wants to clear his name. He says since LSU decided not to renew his contract, he has had difficulty finding employment at another university.
