Doesn't matter who you were talking to. You made a disrespectful comment just for the sake of trying to be funny. Came off as an arse imo.

because the only reason I can think of entering a thread about something I didnt know/care about and shitting on it for no reason would be a pathetic attempt to somehow make myself feel better

so I was just wondering if you accomplished your goal or not

What was disrespectful about it? I did not know LSU has a women's tennis team. Could it possibly be one of the reasons Minnis was let go was because he didn't promote the sport in Baton Rouge? Hmmm???

his is a mistake. I knew some Tennis players when I was at LSU and he recruited well and he ran a good program. I've always thought that non-revenue sports should be more about running a good program with good students and less of an obsession with winning.

I don't want LSU programs to be crap, but let's be honest and admit non-revenue sports don't need to be held to the same standard of revenue sports.

shitty attitude. If we're going to sink money into these sports we might as well win. Your affection towards this guy seems to be clouding you and some others judgement. I'm sure he was a nice guy, but apparently wasn't getting the job done. Nice people get canned all the time.

It was not his job to promote the team. LSU has PR people to do that. Please don't try to say that you're comment wasn't an attempt to be funny. Just stop posting in this thread, you obviously don't care about the women's tennis team.

You're weird if that is how you go about making yourself feel better.

And who exactly did I shite on? If anything I was calling attention to LSU's lack of publicity for women's tennis.

Okay, fair enough. So LSU's PR people did not do a very good job with women's tennis.

I OBVIOUSLY didn't KNOW about women's tennis. I don't recall ever reading a story about LSU women's tennis in the Baton Rouge paper.

Get the sand out of your vagina....

It really doesn't matter. But if you sincerely didn't know there was a womens tennis team at lsu (which I still find it hard to believe) then I apologize to you for my comments. I agree that the LSU PR department could do a much better job at promoting the non-revenue sports.

LSU Baseball was a non revenue sport before a little known man named Skip Bertman came to town.

If you are spending the money on the facilities you need to compete and win. I agree he is a great guy but he has also had a very long tenure. Certainly he can't be surprised.

Exactly the same for DD Breaux.

I understand the needing to win part, but I think it would be an overstatement to say LSU sank money into women's tennis.

Trolling women's tennis?!?

If women's tennis is so well known by LSU supporters, let's see how many posters on this board can name just one current player on the team without looking up the roster.

I've never been to an LSU softball game but I can name four or five players on the team just from reading about the team in the paper.

Women's tennis? Nope. Not one name comes to mind and it's a damn shame that the athletes who work and train hard to compete at the college level are so anonymous to local LSU supporters.

And the more I think about it, I disagree that the head coach has no responsibility for publicizing his sport. When was the last time Minnis gave a television interview? Ever??? I've never seen one on Baton Rouge local sports.

when was the last time the local media went to a tennis match or practice?

I am confused as to what exactly your point is...

and the recaps of every match are in the Advocate, sure its not big but they are in there

sounds like your beef is with LSU Marketing department, I dont know what to tell you

ETA: basically I dont understand why your ignorance of certain LSU sports is somehow someone else's problem

You just made my point for me.

There is some coverage of men's tennis with video clips of their matches occasionally on the local sports. But I've never seen any coverage of the women's team. Thus, I did not know LSU has a women's tennis team. I guess that makes me a troll for mentioning it......

I follow LSU sports closer than the average fan most likely. If I don't know LSU even fields a team in a sport you can be pretty certain a LOT of LSU supporters don't know it. And if we don't know it, how can we support it? THAT is what makes it someone else's problem.
If Minnis has been at LSU for as long as he has without so much as drawing minimal attention to his sport, then it's probably a good move to cut him loose. Let's see if his successor will do a better job of that.

LOL

you think Jeff Brown (men's head coach) calls up the local media and tells them to come out and film the matches?

you make it sound as if you deserve to have everything just served up to you

if you go to LSUSports.net, you can click on the women's tennis tab...its not that hard

the women's team had the No. 1 player in the nation a couple years ago...they get fans in the stands and have their local supporters

him getting fired has nothing to do with his "publicity" of the sport
