Yes, LSU was close to being in the national championship game this year. Very close. At the least we would have been playing Florida with a shot at Texas. Every tiger fan here knows that we outplayed Bama and should have won that game if not for unfortunate mishaps in Peterson (most importantly), Jefferson, and Scott getting injured. If we win that game... a more spirited team shows up for the Ole Miss game and that one doesn't come down to last second Miles shenanigans.

Poor coaching resulted in a close game against Georgia. Poor last minute execution by the coaches resulted in the Ole Miss debacle. Coming out "Saintsesque" and letting Penn St. have a large lead before finally turning it on (field or not) led to that loss. We should have never had to rely on a last second drive against that inferior opponent.

I believe our team was an Alabama loss away from showing up for the SEC championship game and doing the same thing Alabama did to Florida. Yes, our OL needs work and our coach needs to take a look in the mirror and start being the coach that we all loved 3 and 4 years ago, but a couple of key injuries in a HUGE game turned our season for the worse.

I know this is the "rant", but saying we were closer to going 6-7 than being in the SECCG vs. Florida is about as pessimistic as you can be.

if coming close to beating the eventual champs means you ewre close to a national title, then where were kentucky and arkansas in 2007?

we were closer to being 7-6 or 6-7.

goal line stand at MSU, late TD run by Scott, missed FG in OT by Ark

yup. we were lucky to finish with 2 more losses

we were unlucky to lose to bama b/c of injuries and PP-gate

net: 1 loss when you take out luck (without even bringing up arky)

we only did what bama did to UF basically against AU, but yeah we'd have dominated a bama team looking for revenge

Going into the game against Alabama we were playing for the SEC West title and a chance to play Florida in the SECCG. The two teams you mentioned (Arkansas actually beat us), had no chance of a national championship that year.

More realistic is 8-5. LSU was much closer to 8-5 than SEC champions.

The Bama, Ole Miss and UF games were close in score only, LSU needed a lot of luck in those three to keep it close. Check the box scores.

So what you're saying is that with improved OL, DL, and QB play, we are title contenders?

So, we are title contenders with our WR, RB, DB, and LB positions?

Our top returning RB has how many carries? Our top returning WR has how many receptions? What about the next RB and WR on that list?

With the history of playing time for non-starters under Miles, we have progressively put our team in this position, year after year. Miles has worked so hard to hold on to what others have done to the point that we are left with what he has done.

And I think that speaks for itself.

Yes after the Alabama loss we were 3 games behind them. I guess you need a reading lesson. We were all sour knowing we let the Alabama game slip away. That put them 2 games up when it should have been tied with us having the tie breaker. You really think we go to Ole Miss and lose with the SEC West on the line?

We all want change..be realistic about it, and hope for the best

LSU needed horrible passes from McElroy to wide open receivers to keep from getting blown out. Check the stats.
LSU's saving grace was the scoring defense. In every other aspect, LSU was outplayed by Ole Miss, Bama and UF.

Just check the box scores. LSU was dominated in every area in those games.

The SEC is the toughest conference in the world and what he is saying we need to improve our coaching and performance in close games. WHAT WRONG WITH THAT STATEMENT. IF LSU DOES NOT IMPROVE GET RID OF THE WHOLE STAFF.

like when we lost at home to an average Arkansas team with the national title on the line in 2007?

I was more referring to the fact that we were close to beating Alabama. Very Close. Clearly we weren't close after we lost that game.

In 2007? When we won that national champtionship game? Or when we all knew that would be a tough game against Arkansas because of the ridiculous time McFadden and Jones had given us the previous years? Do you have any better arguments in this matter or do you just prefer to be pessimistic because you think spewing off about Miles and his subpar 9 win seasons will get him fired?

Take out the cupcake OOC opponents of Washington, ULL, La Tach and Tulane and LSU was 5-4. I wish you people would even try to understand that.

If we scheduled 12 weakass OOC, we very well could be 12-0, but when you are splitting your SEC games the last 2 seasons, people need to STFU about NCs.
