Hey Everyone, Notre Dame fan here (obviously). Just looking to talk a little football, if you all are open to it. Not talking crap and all that. I get annoyed with ND boards, so ill usually bounce around to other teams boards for the bigger games (UGA, USC, Stanford, etc.) Have always done pretty well, except for Miami, lol, couldn't get much going there. I can give you my thoughts and opinions (obviously except level haha)and try and get a little better idea of LSU. ND has had an up and down year, much like LSU.

Let me know if your interested and i'll give you some thoughts. Really pleased with the matchup.

Thanks,

it will be a really close game. LSU hasn't played nearly the schedule the irish have. Im looking forward to it.

forgot to mention, i get there is a lot of ND hate out there, most of it doesn't bother me. I get that most ND fans are annoying and unrealistic. I ll usually read other threads, and maybe mention them in here, but ill leave my comments here. I do get that this is an LSU board, so if people want me to bounce, i will.

ND has played a really tough schedule (top 5 in the country looking at a couple ratings) but LSU has played some really good teams. they are a hard team for me to figure out looking at stats and highlights.

if LSU shows up and can run the ball it could be a tough game for the irish. If Notre Dame could limit our rushing game and make danny etling beat them you guys have a great chance. our pass protection is getting better but not a strength. LSU's defense is stout however. looking forward to a great game.

I hope we can pull out a win but I think it's going to be tough. I'm not sold yet on LSU being able to soundly beat a good opponent.

i never really bought ND has a top 5 team, i think when we played georgia i told them i felt like ND was a 14-15 ranked team, which is where they ended up. i was surprised at how unprepared they were for the miami game, i do not think the talent gap is as large as the score indicated, it was poor preparation. After that, i think they got mentally drained.

Ill start in easy with some offensive thoughts. This team has struggled with the passing game all year, but thrived off of its running game early. I have never been able to figure out all the love that this offensive line gets, even the last years. Against size and strength, they do well, but do not do well with speed - especially on the edges. The right side is younger, and they are coming along, i actually feel like they are a little better at pass blocking then run. McGlinchey is.... frustrating haha. So much talk about how good he is, but put a speedy defensive end on him, and he will be chasing him the whole game. I saw it last year and he hadn't gotten any better this year. Nelson (LG) is the real deal. This kid is good in run/pass. He is deserving of the hype. A solid rotation of running backs. adams runs hard, but has not been the same since miami. Not sure if he has been quietly nursing an injury, but not the same back who played against USC.

Wimbush (QB) has shown a lot of different things this year. He can run well, can throw it a mile, but manages to overthrow a guy 10 feet in front of him. I think the biggest hurtle for him is the mental game. He is overthinking everything he is doing. The receivers have been the biggest headache in my opinion. Most people are quick to put all the blame on Wimbush, but the receivers have done nothing to help a first time starter. They don't fight for the ball, have a bad case of alligator arms, don't know when to break on routes and have had zero toughness. I put so much more on them then on wimbush.

Honestly, Aranda is the biggest issue for ND. He has a month to game plan for ND and that's dangerous with the talent he has.

LSU will compliment the planning with a fully healthy dline rotation that features a lot of high shelf talent. ND has a very good oline, but that will be matched on the LOS.

On offense, Danny Etling has come a long way and has improved gradually to compliment a good running game.....with a healthy Guice, it'll be tough. Danny is also very careful with the ball, so free bees will be few.

I honestly expect a 27-17 LSU type game.

I agree with this assessment and think that the game will be decided by the OLs.

Key and Thompson should provide that "speed" to generate some pressure and keep our front 7 in the backfield all day long (35 sacks to 22).
When forced to throw, ND will have little success with that pressure up front and DBU patrolling the secondary(We allow 30 yards less/game than a pretty decent ND DB corps).

Both running attacks should have some success, but I see LSU coming out the winner in a 28 to 17 type game.

I expect a relatively low scoring game. Whoever can consistently run the ball will win since that is each team's strength. We will be the healthiest we've been all year. Guice will play, but Key is uncertain. Guice battled injuries the first half of the season and that mixed with a new OC have hurt his numbers. He's healthy and he's pissed. Not a good sign for ND.

Etling won't likely put up big stats, but he protects the ball so unless ND can generate a lot of pressure he's not going to make many mistakes. Expect a few jet sweeps with the WRs, some deep passes and throws to the sidelines. We rarely test the middle.

Aranda can dial up a serious defensive game plan when given this much time. Just ask Lamar Jackson. MLB Devin White is the enforcer. I can see a lot of run blitzes from Aranda with our DBs playing man.

It should be a good game.

both of these squads are unorthodox.

It will be a much tougher game than last year's Citrus matchup.

That turned out to be a beat down against the Heisman winner.
