Game is on ESPN Classic right now, one of the more underrated games in LSU history. Great atmosphere.

LaBrandon Toefeld fumbled the ball before crossing the plane, on a 1st quarter "touchdown".

I was thinking the same thing, I don't ever remember him calling games for some reason.

It just always feels like the Tennessee game was so much bigger, and Alabama as well. I think that is why it gets so overlooked. But MSU was a great game.

Fun fact about this game

Friend of mine went to hear Saban speak at the Gridiron luncheon during the week before this game. Saban told the group our plan on offense was to "run it to their bubbles". (A reference to running between MSU's blitzing LB's and DB's which they were known for under DC Joe Lee Dunn) As I watched the game in Tiger Stadium I noticed how patient we were with the running game even when we fell behind in the 2nd half. We stuck to the plan and it worked.

That was one of the louder games in Tiger Stadium. It was electric from the beginning and it was a great back and forth game. The student section seriously brought it back then. Booty actually had a real good game for that one.

I was at the game and never saw the replay until just now, man Saban was going crazy when we won. I've never seen that.

Yeah, Tiger Stadium was so electric during that time that even Saban couldn't escape the fever. We made him break character.

Absolutely. The younger generation doesn't know about the 2000 season's cathartic release of finally having success after the pain of the 1998-1999 seasons.

It was the same way in 1995 after six straight losing seasons from 1989-1994.

I am part of that generation as 2000 is the first season I really remember. Unfortunately, the UAB game that year is the earliest memory I have of attending an LSU game

I was 10 years old and remember being pissed that no one stormed the field after the overtime lol. It seemed like the thing to do that year! Such a great time to be growing up going to Tiger Stadium. Saban but

I was there. WHat a finish. we were in deep shite down 14 in the 4th then reeled off 21 straight only to have MSU tie and go into OT. That OT game and the tennessee one that year were off the charts. Thankfully we didn't strom field and tear down goal posts for MOO u like we did for tennesse and bama that year. only the north EZ goal post came down for bama game.

we stormed field in 2001 after beating the aubbies and winning west for our first trip to atlanta but no goal posts went down like the year before. stupid kids tried and got busted in the mouth by cops.

yep. other than 95, 96 and 97 all the 90's blew. These young kids here are lucky they missed the dark ages. yes it made 2000 and 2001 super special. the excitement was off the charts those overtime games and that 2001 auburn game and sec championsip. Those were the two most exciting years ever as a fan in the stands. yeah 2003 and 2007 were great but the atmosphere in 2000 and 2001 cannot be beat. those teams broke barriers. pioneers. everybody was standing jumping up and down on bleachers that tennessee game in 2000. we stood all game in 2001 SECCG right by band in corner end zone. it was surreal. I have never missed a SECCG yet and 2001 was the best experience.
