Someone please tell me how we match up against these guys this year. Still a little in shock from the Miss State series, hopefully we can put together a better performance.

I follow LA Tech closely due to both my kids being there. They got off to a great start, but are now on a losing skid. I think that was a decent team we beat last night. I expected that to be a much closer game.

With all due respect, it went almost exactly as I thought it would.

LSU vs Florida thoughts….

Caglianone has improved as a pitcher is the biggest takeaway from the Gators.

Their Starters:

Friday: Cade Fisher very talented usually runs into 1 bad inning and then finds his groove. Was very successful last year out of the bullpen and has been moved into the Starter role as a Sophomore. His high era is mainly due to 1 bad inning an outing. Just look at his outing with the Aggies, he made it through 6 innings but gave up 5 runs in the second inning. Takeaway: get to him early and don't let him settle in.

Saturday: Liam Peterson talented freshman that has been very inconsistent. I am actually shocked they don't insert Neely into the Saturday role. Takeaway: the freshman struggles and can be hit around at the first sign of trouble we need to capitalize.

Sunday: Caglianone. He has really improved with his command and is mowing guys down. He has been brought on slowly to start the year but I would expect him to go 6+ innings against us. Takeaway: at least so far through 4 starts he has not been the hot and cold pitcher he was last year.

Hitters: Caglianone - obvious power hitter and is also currently hitting over .400 to start the season

Ty Evans has started off the year hitting very well but Colby Shelton was the player who actually started off the best for them. Has run into a slump in the last few games but actually leads their team in HRs with 10 but obviously that will change with Caglianone.

As a team Florida has struggled in the midweek mainly due to pitching but they just won 2 of 3 against The Aggies this weekend so they are obviously much better than their record shows (12-8).

I like our chances against Florida. Playing on the Road to start SEC play is always an issue and we should see improvement from the mound playing at home.

They have 5 guys batting over .300. Caglianone is batting .415 and has 7 HRs. Shelton has 10. Shelnut has 7. Their bats can be dangerous. LSU’s pitchers can’t afford to walk a bunch of guys or get into a lot of hitters’ counts. They need to get the bottom of UF’s lineup out and limit opportunities for the top of the order.

I think LSU’s bats can hold up well against their pitchers. They just can’t keep stranding guys and getting handcuffed by relief pitchers. Fisher leads UF with Ks, but gets hit a lot. LSU will see him, Caglianone and Neely again from CWS. Cags and Neely have good stuff and are right behind Fisher in Ks. Slater (3.05 ERA) and Smith (2.79 ERA) are pretty good as well.

Using rant logic, since Florida lost a midweek game to Jacksonville University, the Gators will not win a SEC series and every coach should be fired immediately.

So, LSU should sweep with ease!!!

It’s gonna be a shootout more than likely. Unless our pitching steps up it’s basically gonna be a home-run derby. Their pitching is pretty bad.

I think LSU comes out fired up. The title rematch at the Box. I’m not saying we blow them out of the water, but we should be playing well.

I would think this series sets the tone for LSU this year and what to expect. Huge series.

I think LSU will be 4-5 in the SEC on April 1. 1-2 (State), 2-1 (Fla), and 1-2 (@Ark)

Maybe but that ain’t how baseball works. Lsu could get hot in the 9th SEC series and run the table. Ole miss did it as a last 4 in team

Caglianone
One of the greatest talents I have ever seen in college baseball.

I watch other SEC games on replay here and there. Florida isn't what they were last year. If our starters pitch well and get QS, I predict we take the series 2-1.

Good analysis. Hopefully Holman & Jump bounce back from shaky outings and our defense tightens their asses up.
