Saw a thread on SEC Rant that made me think, what was LSU's record against this year's CWS teams?

Texas A&M: 1-2
Arkansas: 0-3
Auburn: 1-2
Ole Miss: 0-3
Oklahoma: 1-0
Texas: 0-1
Stanford: 0-0
Notre Dame: 0-0

LSU vs CWS: 3-11

Could we have won another game or two in some close contests? Sure, but our defense and pitching let us down. Honestly we could have lost a couple more too. The only no doubter was the 9-2 win over Auburn.

We really just didn't have the arms to compete against the best this year. This seems to be getting corrected in short order.

Could have easily lost at least one more like the walk off win against OK.

Exactly

People that thought we were a likely CWS team just because we had several AA hitters don’t understand the value of front line pitching.

Data-based discussion

Powerful

The exception on this board. Well done.

Watching super regionals, with all of the teams right there in front of me against similar opponents (not cupcake conference teams), we were just flat out not good enough. Momentum and luck obviously play a role, but the teams are a cut above what we had this year, from pitching to defense to top/bottom hitting. And, I know everyone thinks we hit well and we do...but the bottom of our order was absolutely trash alot of the time.

I don't know who the pitcher was who closed out Auburn's game yesterday. But we don't have a pitcher on our roster who is even close. This guy threw it exactly where he wanted every pitch the last two innings. That dude was smoke. Until we can get a couple of guys like him, the best you can hope for is to make the tournament.

He pitched well yesterday, but his numbers for the year almost mirror Reyzleman’s minus the saves number. Gervase was even better.

if youre curious:
OU - Money started and pitched well but 3 errors
Tx - Floyd was shelled and 2 errors
A&M - starters combined for 9 1/3rd innings, 6 errors in 3 games
Auburn - SP wasnt horrible, but not great either, 4 errors in 3 games
Ark - SP was actually pretty good, 2 errors in 3 games, but Arky played fantastic defense and shut down our bats
OM - SP combined for 4 1/3 innings, 4 errors in 3 games

21 errors in 14 of our toughest games this year. Our pitching was from elite but we beat ourselves a lot.

And could have easily won 5 more of these games with a competent defense.

Going into the season a lot more was expected from Thompson, but he had major issues. Milazxo was very good at catcher. No one knew he would get hurt.

Need 2/3 starting pitching, defense & hitting in my view.

2022 LSU had 1 of 3.
