LSU vs Alabama watch party at SKC canceled

Wonder why the watch party scheduled for Smoothie King Center got canceled.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Smoothie King Center has cancelled the LSU vs. Alabama Watch Party on Saturday, Nov. 7.

- Ticket/promotional sales & interest was not as high as anticipated.

Nope, it is CBS. And the "make it free and open" part makes it a highly-likely money losing proposition. So they axed it.

CBS can charge advertisers based on how many TVs (and more specifically different households) are watching the game. If you have lets say 4,000 people at the SKC, that's only 1 TV compared to probably 2,500.

Why would CBS care? CBS is a free channel. It's not like they're showing a pay per view fight and not paying extra.

I'm guessing SKC isn't going to broadcast the feed via an OTA antenna, so whomever they use for the satellite service has a contract with CBS on broadcasting rules/rights.
