Yeah, I don't get ESPN's pro-Bama campaign. They aren't just arguing that Bama deserves the shot over OSU but tha there isn't even an argument. It's just odd

Weird, isn't it Baloo?
It would seem that such intense lobbying, and complete abandonment of any sense of impartiality would naturally backfire, especially considering how much backlash there is against "the worldwide leader" in the industry.
I think people sense they jumped the Shark, and they can stick it to em now.
I see it as anti-SEC backlash first, anti-ESPN/ABC backlash second and anti-Bama backlash a distant, distant third.
It's probably really not even going to be about Bama. This will be about opposing the ESPN "KINGMAKER" steamroller if thats where the data leads you with some sense of INTEGRITY.

The arrogance of some of the Heads using words to describe Bama on the 9th such as "lock" and "slam-dunk", pissed me off.

I normally refuse to believe ESPN has any real bias, but when every single person on ESPN/ABC insists that Alabama is a lock - and should be, it is weird.

The argument that ESPN/ABC would get better ratings doesn't even totally fly. I mean even if that is true, I don't the average analyst at ESPN really benefits from it. It is almost like they are just brainwashed

ESPN's entire programming is based around debate, even when the issue is pretty much undebateable. I don't understand why all day today they haven't had anyone on the Okie St bandwaggon? Where's Skip Bayless? Lou Holtz?

It is kind of odd that Sportscenter keeps putting up WV/Louisville/Cincinnati as the Big East representative when it couldn't be more obvious that WV will easily be the highest in the BCS formula. Meanwhile, there actually is a debate about the BCS title game and they have not been as diplomatic in their projections.

Did you hear that announcer for the OU/OSU game say Alabama controlled the game against LSU and really should have won it? That's the kind of mentality that will also come into play before this is over.

They are being instructed on what to push. These people get paid to talk about what ESPN, a network full of Alabama alums, wants them to talk about.

Stoops has 3 former assistants as voters too. Likely to follow suit, as will the 5 other b12 coach voters.

They ran a CRAWLER on the bottom of the OU/OSU game the ENTIRE game that said "LSU expected to play Bama in BCS national championship game".

Kingmakers/agenda-setters/opinion-makers whatever, it's clear they made an EXECUTIVE decision. To believe otherwise, I think is just naive.

+1. It has been a bit baffling over the last week though. I think a good number of analysts truly don't understand the formula and are incompetent regarding OSU's chances. I think they saw that OSU was down about 9 percent and decided that could not be made up, without realizing that a good deal of that will be subtracted with OSU taking 2 in the computers (and even more will be taken with Va Tech out of the picture).

But surely, someone has done this analysis and had to realize what needed to happen when all of these results were coming in tonight.

I do agree with you about the backlash. I don't blame Saban for campaigning -- that's his job. But ESPN giving him such a forum to do so was questionable. He was on GameDay for like half an hour. That's ESPN, not Bama.

I also think, and this is frightening, that this game is the first time a lot of voters have even watched Okie St.

According to this completely unoffical link I found from googling "danny kannell harris voter", he was a new harris voter in 2009:

LINK

Don't know if he is still a voter though (or how true this link is).

I'm sure it is. Coaches obviously don't get to see many games and harris voters generally just watch highlights or read box scores.

They had a hell of an ight to put on a show like that though.

Bama should NOT be allowed to play in the big game, period.
