It's an enormous resource drain to direct traffic, provide security etc
Speedy has posted in the past about BRFD, BRPD and EBRPSO requirements to host a game in BTR

Let me just say, UF is betting that this storm clips the coast and turns back out to the ocean which would cause little to no damage to Gainesville which is 80-100 miles from the coast. If they win their bet they get to play the game. If they take a direct hit or the damage is everything they are predicting then they lose the gamble and the game gets cancelled.

Just like saying Katrina will pass on Nola and we will have a game in br the same weekend. Not happening! Period

If the levees wouldn't have broke and flooded New Orleans we would have had a game in Baton Rouge. Katrina was on a Monday. Would have had plenty of time to prepare for the game.
Nice try

Let me know the ifs associated with this storm!

I tend to agree...and I think the odds are in their favor at this moment, but it isn't a 100% sure thing.
If they lose the gamble and there is no game, they will be reamed by the media from sea to shining sea. Small consolation prize for us for not having a game.

What do you do that makes you more qualified to make this decision than those involved?

Be like that and watch.

They are betting that it misses Florida completely and that first responders are not needed to be sent from Gainesville to other areas.
They are betting that people will not ignore evacuation warnings Friday because they are going to the game Saturday.
They are betting that people will not need police or first responders' assistance when they try to travel impassble roads to get to the game.
They are betting that resources will not be needed to restore power to hospitals and other critical infrastructure that could be needed during the game.
Cancel the game. Move it. But don't pretend that a Cat 4 hurricane and its after effects are less important than a football game.

Yeah. That's what "clips the coast" means. Calm down princess. Let it play out. We will know something in approx 12 hours.

Idk what had been said here in the last couple hours, but here is what I heard from those working for LSU.
SEC was not involved at all and was not included in the conference calls. This is strictly a UF decision which they would not budge on.

could a game have been played in baton rouge at noon the day after Katrina? even without the levee failure.
not likely.

24-10 Tigers. Don't see Fla able to get their offense going and their hurt DL will not be able to contain Guice and Williams. Look for them to have big games again.

The simple truth is that Florida fans are the worst traveling fans in the SEC, all their OCC games are in Florida and I think they went a decade without traveling for anything but SEC games and bowl games when they weren't in Florida. Their fans will not traveling Baton Rouge mobile or Anywhere.
Meanwhile, LSU are notorious for being a traveling party. We will out number them 5-1 anywhere they move it and they know it. Hence, they lose any advantage they have for this pivotal game. So they are going to make us play it there or they are going to cancel.
