I don't mind playing Tulane if it makes financial sense and it games some of the BCS computers (as an away game). But as a season opener? LSU should be playing a quality OOC team as a season opener to get on national television and to give the team something formidable to prepare for all off season

If there is going to be an in state game in the Superdome, it is pretty clear that there are only two teams in this state that could bring people to this game.
At least the Cajun fans would be real fans, talking smack with the Tiger fans before the game, actually wanting their team to win.
These Tulane "fans", all 10 of them, are also Tiger fans. What fun is that?
I know that some of our fans on the edges are also Tiger fans, but the core has no love for the Tigers and you guys obviously have no love for us and that would be a fun day of partying in New Orleans before a kickoff that night!
At least the Cajun fans would be real fans, talking smack with the Tiger fans before the game, actually wanting their team to win.

In 1938 they were anti LSU, but today, from my experience, they are not. I have been to New Orleans for 2 bowl games and talked to people.
Also, for that game Tulane had against us at Cajun Field last year, I talked to a few of them. Not many Tulane fans came to that game and if Louisiana plays Tulane in the New Orleans Bowl this year, prepare to be outnumbered in your own city.
New Orleans is now producing more Louisiana commitments than Tulane commitments. We just grabbed a big 3 star TE from New Orleans last night.

Actually, Curtis Johnson is mostly locking down NOLA. You are getting outrecruited and you don't even know it.
And most Tulane fans see LSU as their chief rival (right or wrong).
I made the trip to ULL but a lot didn't. Our QB being hurt and our team stinking dropped numbers. If CJ keeps recruiting the way he's been recruiting, the numbers will skyrocket. And ULL will STILL be in the Sunbelt.

I highly doubt this. Curtis Johnson is doing very well recruiting NOLA right now, which admittedly was an area severly neglected by Tulane in the past. Tulane has four 3-stars from the NOLA area in its incoming 2013 class alone.

Completely false and its not even close. Tulane probably has 2x maybe even 3x as many players from New Orleans.

The Superdome and Tiger Stadium combine for 165,750 seats, meaning that's how many tickets will be put up for sale in any 2-year, home&home series between the two. I looked up the total attendance for the past four seasons between the two schools, and here's what we have:
LSU 2009-2012: 2,594,648
Tulane 2009-2012: 558,377
If we sold the tickets to the two games combined in proportion to how many fans each school brings to its last four football seasons (a fair sample size, I'd say), then LSU would get 136,397, and Tulane would get 29,353. I would be comfortable with LSU going to Tulane, saying that we'd play them home&away as much as they like and sell the tickets according to this ratio. We could give Tulane 5,000 for the games in Baton Rouge and 24,953 to the games in New Orleans, and take the rest for ourselves. Mathematically, and regarding what each school brings to the table, this is a fair offer.
Another option would be to split the games themselves with regard to this ratio. If we wanted a 10-year contract, we could offer 8 games in Tiger Stadium and 2 in the Superdome, and let each home team sell the tickets however they usually do for their home games.
Like I said, anything can be worked out if both parties are honest and secure with the value they bring to the deal.

Dont know if already mentioned but I just read an article that stated Tulane averaged just over 5000 fans a game from 208-2012...

Tickets sold vs. actual attendance, I'd guess. But hey, if Tulane sells 25,000 for an LSU game in the Superdome, and only 5,000 of them show up, and there's 50,000 LSU fans in there, I'm totally fine with a deal that allows that to happen.
