That say Payton should have ran it under 2 minutes are probably just shocked a team actually took initive to win the game with a Touchdown instead of playing for a field goal. This is coming from an O supporter. Who dat and geaux Tigers.

Trolls are trolls, most LSU fans are Saint fans.

Why do so many LSU fans hate their hometown professional team? I’ll never understand it

That pass play on first down screwed the Saints more than the missed call by the ref. If Sean runs the ball there they probably win

I don't think it's nearly as many as people are leading on. But there are a number of reasons why a given LSU fan would hate the Saints.

North La. people often have a disdain for anything involving South La., particularly New Orleans. Many of those same people are bitter Cowboys fans.

Not every LSU fan is from Louisiana. Many are from Texas and loyal to the Cowboys or Texans or from somewhere else in the Southeast and thus loyal to the Falcons or Panthers.

Many don't actually hate the Saints, don't really care about the NFL and thus just talk shite about the Saints for entertainment value it brings on this board.

I was shocked they passed on first down. 1:55 remaining. On the Rams' 13 --- chip shot field goal. Run twice, probably 4 seconds a play. Now you are down to 1:47 and the Rams are out of timeouts. Run it one more time, 4 more seconds, maybe 5. 1:42. Drain 40 seconds off the clock. 1:02: Rams get the ball back with less than a minute (3 seconds for the field goal) and no timeouts. Instead, they got it back at 1:41 with one timeout.

And the OP is here saying the pass was a smart move?

ETA --- even with the timeout, which meant they could use the entire field and not just the sidelines, the drive for the field goal took 1:26.

I mean the pass play would have worked had Brees not thrown it in the dirt. His age kind of started to show in the postseason.

Should absolutely have run it all 3 plays. Rams would have had no timeouts and less than 1 min instead of 1 timeout and closer to 2 minutes. That is if Kamara/Ingram didn't score make a first down.

I said the same thing. Meanwhile, only 19 seconds were run off the clock between the long catch through and including the ensuing kickoff return.

Well they should have just run the ball.

Its why that penalty is such a big deal. It would have ended the game.

If the saints get a first down with 1:40 seconds left the game was over, run the clock down and kick the fg.

I don't know what to say about this, other than you are 1000% wrong. The only thing ever said on these boards is how much south LA people hate north LA.

I literally know 2 cowboys fans from north LA. One loves the cowboys ( fan since the 60's ) and the other no longer watches the NFL ( allegedly ) .

Because the Saints Fanbase is cancer everytime I listen to them. I’m sure it’s what most people think of LSU Fans.

The game was tied so how exactly would playing for a FG not have won it? Also a TD gives them a 7 point lead which can be tied

If they were the Baton Rouge Saints they'd be hometown. Yeah, I like the Saints, but they're not LSU. And - there's been a bit of a rift between New Orleans and a large portion of the rest of Louisiana for decades since NOLA wanted "home rule" so that the city didn't have to necessarily abide by Louisiana laws.

Toss in the fact that when LSU plays in the Sugar Bowl, the city of New Orleans frequently kow-tows to the Tigers' opponents. Yeah, it's all about making a buck since there are fewer LSU fans filling the coffers, but where the hell is the "hometown" love coming back to us?

I'll continue to love and pull for the Saints simply because they're based in Louisiana, but professional sports doesn't flow through my veins like LSU sports.

This is retarded. If the call is made properly they have over a 95% chance of winning. Just watch what happened at the end of the KC NE game where KC tied it with something like 38 seconds to drive the field.
