I love both combos - white, purple, white and gold, purple, gold. Wish we would wear them both at least once each year.

If it weren't for tradition the uniforms are ranked below IMHO:
1) Gold helmet, purple jersey, gold pants
2) White helmet, purple jersey, white pants
3) Gold helmet, white jersey, gold pants (standard uniform).
LSU is Gold Helmet and Gold Pants.
The White/Purple/White or All White's have the generic look that could be worn by anybody - just change out the School's logo.

Lobos have been wearing silver helmets vs teams with darker helmets/red helmets vs teams with lighter helmets, red jersey and pants so that seems to have LSU wearing white, purple, white.

White-purple-white looks like Northwestern St, Stephen F. Austin, or some random schools in the Mountain time zone.
Gold-purple-gold is the way to go. I’m talking about the dark purple from the 80s. Nobody wears that but LSU.

I'd love to see a combo of the 2009 Pro Combat Gold Helmets with the 2011 Pro Combat jersey and 2009 Pro Combat pants, in a night game setting. That would look super clean and sharp. The 2009 helmet remains one of my favorite alt helmets that the team has worn.

DiNardo era we wore white for every single home game expect Vandy in ‘95 if i recall.
