I honestly think this is more about minimizing tailgating than it is about $. I just can not figure out why it has become and issue all of the sudden. trash has always been there, mass numbers on campus has never been a problem, what is the damn deal?

neck I'll post a couple pictures from the West Virginia Tailgates and Bama tailgates on parade grounds that got this ball rolling.
They 100% want to reduce the number of tailgaters because less tailgaters = less trash instead of concentrating on the few groups that destroy campus on gameday

Not to mention that parking areas have been reduced severely over the years. 10-15 years ago, you could park almost anywhere. So, they make less parking available, and then demand money for the fewer spaces they do have. Brilliant!

This new policy is getting to be too much. It's gonna be a huge cluster frick with just the gameday traffic. I'm gonna have to think long and hard if I even renew my season tickets.

I'm tempted to make flyers to put on cars in these lots reminding them that this spot will be $240 next year.

This is what got the ball rolling towards implementing these decisions faster than expected.

Coming up with more $ ain't always easy.

am i the only one that thinks its actually crazy that parking was free?

They're going to make an already giant cluster f*** an even bigger cluster f***.
Great idea.
"Thank you sir may I have another?!"

The budget cuts have to be felt somewhere, in light of all the english instructers getting notices of termination everyone should see these budget cuts are for real. Cleaning up the campus costs money. EVEN if it cost absolutely zero dollars I think LSU alumni should be willing to pay a little to experience the convience of parking on campus. It is a small donation that could prevent other departments from feeling what the english department has felt. If the expenses are too much to deal with every game there are plenty off campus lots that are available that are cheaper.

Many at the tailgate are in the same position. Its not that they cant afford the extra $540 to park and tailgate a year its the principal of the matter.
Ticket price 5 year renewal is coming up soon too. Ticket prices may be going up next year as well.

They already do in $1 per ticket per game.

Adam,
LSU ATHLETICS does not = LSU ACADEMICS!
Academics will see a very small percentage of this new increase.

LSU Athletic Department is using the fear tactic of budget cuts to justify these arbitrary amounts. Its analogous to the TSA justifying "enhanced pat downs" in the name of safety.

Adam, most of the parking lots the students park on for classes are funded by athletics!
Athletics use the lots for 7 days a year.

22 pages of this? Give the rant a chance to complain about something they have a choice to avoid and they will choosing bitching and threatening to give up their tickets instead of the rational solution of parking elsewhere, taking a bus from a designated location, taking a cab from a designated location, carpooling and splitting the costs, or simply not going to choosing to hit up Walk-ons before.
You people are pathetic.

The bathroom situation at LSU is ridiculous. We make a road trip every year and LSU has the worst set up for bathrooms by far. I don't recall seeing any port-a-cans at Georgia last year. If some of the money is going to upgrade the bathroom situation that is money well spent. If they plan to order more port-a-cans, that is no upgrade.

Athletics is already self sufficient. I would bet with the budget cuts Academics will be taking more money then they already did (Im pretty sure I have already seen this in an article). Therefore indirectly these charges will go towards academics.

Yeah they already take all of the athletic department revenue basically.
