Cut funding to university and shrink enrollment. We will need less faculty and shortfall will disappear. Problem solved.

Why? Would you rather have people pay $10 for an all-day bathroom pass, or $40 to park?

Neither...You shouldn't have to pay to use the bathroom. The only place I've had to do that is Europe and I thought it was ridiculous there. Maybe some of the women you know don't enjoy using the port-o-lets but the majority of people don't care and certainly wouldn't want to pay to use the bathroom. I might use the bathroom one time on game day once I get on campus outside of tiger stadium. Most people are the same way and wouldn't want to pay $10 for one use. Logistics of it are outrageous as well, can you imagine potentially 150,000 having to buy a bathroom pass?

Not to mention the numbers of people who will start pissing on the ground behind a bush or tree.

No. I'd like the University to learn on its own how to produce a quality product for the right price and trimming the fat.

LSU has been trimming the fat. Now if you want LSU to be a second rate university and not a world class teaching and research insitution then tell LSU to cut even deeper. In the end it will hurt the football program. Hell a kid can go to Texas and play football and go to a school where they still put money and resources into academics.

You obviously are quite out of touch. There are still countless, useless departments that are still spending money.

There are solutions to the issue that are more than the Athletic Department subsidizing the university even more.

Not for the parking lots at LSU. That money has to come from LSU.

The lots they are planning on charging $20/game to park in (Levee Lots, Hayfield) are grass fields. They aren't trying to recoup for construction and upkeep of paving. The lots are fricking grass with some limestone paths on property that has been owned by the university since the early 1900's. They would be cutting the grass there even if nobody parked in them. The frustration I feel about this is not about paying. It is about the amount, and the method which they claim they will be using. People having to pay upon entering the lots along River Road and Gourrier is going to create a traffic situation similar to post-game traffic. I understand that they want to offset costs, but $20/game per car is an outrageous overcharge to pay inmates to pick up trash and rent a dozen portoshits. Allow people to purchase a season pass at $5/game and have a separate entrance for pass holders. Making everyone pay upon entering the lot is going to be a massive clusterfrick. Not to mention that a parking attendant being responsible for $20,000-$50,000 (depending on how many cars they can fit) is a pretty funny thought. They'll be paying extra security detail to make money pick-ups throughout the day. The whole thing just doesn't seem well thought out or rational.

Being rich shouldn't be a qualification for going to an LSU game.

A lot of d-bags are already doing that. The tailgate around the corner from us always has a few drunks stumble over later in the afternoon to piss in a bush about 10 yards from our tent. We were picking up the other day and had already taken the tent down and some idiot tried to whip it on out with my 5 year old standing right there. He was politely told to walk his lazy arse the extra 50 yards to the bathroom.

I live one mile south of campus and have assigned parking. I'll give up my 2 spots for $10 each per game...

Why don't you cut your useless spending? Eat out less and save money so you can afford the fricking $40.00 per game.

How many times have we all said it isn't necessarily that they are charging or the amount but the method and the drastic change.

Speak for yourself. We clean up after ourselves. We even go as far as picking up trash that was there when we arrived.

Dude, shut the frick up! Like everyone in this thread has stated, this isn't about whether one can afford it. And, who the frick are you to tell people how to spend their money? Like someone above already pointed out, you are exactly what's wrong with this country today.

Earlier it seemed like you were just playing devil's advocate, but a response like this is asinine. He's not arguing the fact that he has to pay but the determination of that cost and how they're going about implementing it.
