My TAF fees, sales taxes on the items I purchase for the tailgate, and additional donations to LSU pay for this already.

I disagree.

If you can't afford the 40 bucks to pay for parking then maybe you ought to save your money.

I can afford the $40. I could also afford to pay $5.00/gallon for gas. That doesn't mean I wouldn't raise hell over it if the price went that high.

If you compare Minnesota tailgating to LSU tailgating one more time I'm gonna book a flight on Expedia and come up there and punch you right in your Golden Gopher vagina.

I've tailgated at both. You'd be amazed at how people at other schools like to tailgate and have a good time. Try it sometime. LSU is not the only place where people tailgate.

So these people that normally come to the games are going to stop, outside of 1 or 2 games, because they now either have to pay ($20 or $40) to park or park in a different area?

yes. some of them come from new orleans, some from here. they arent paying $40 to park when you can get a ticket for less than that. that is straight up insane prices and i dont blame them.

This would explain why the group from Chicago that tailgated next to us for the Bama game thought we were out of our minds with the stuff we kept hauling out there and how many people were involved.

I understand your point, but revenue is revenue and LSU needs all the revenue it can get from as many sources. I have a feeling that winning football teams will mean the revenue will keep coming.

So they would still like to go to the games, they just don't want to to park in the free lots?

If I lived in LA, I'd get season tix and pay for parking to tailgate knowing the money goes to the University. People who just show up to party should expect to pay for the costs of their party.

Man you must be loaded. Throwing that cash around like it is nothing.

Yeah, but the increase in revenue will mean that LSU's plan will work out. People showing up and not paying a dime on football saturdays doesn't add to LSU's bottom line.

they have their doubts that the free lots will have any spots after a certain time. i tend to agree with them.

And when those people stop showing up and affect those who are adding to the bottom line, LSU is in a pickle.

If they are so concerned about revenue, why not be a little more creative? For instance, how about opening some of the buildings in the quad for bathrooms (like they used to do) and sell all-day passes to use them? Have a janitor go and clean them every so often and keep them fresh.....still offer a few port-o-lets for the cheap skates. Not really that difficult and would probably rake in a decent amount of dough.
How about having a university employee drive around campus selling bags of ice?

Is their plan to kill the great tailgating tradition that has been built?

They are supposedly going to build new permanent restrooms with the increase in funding because of parking.
