once again.....offer season ticket holders who do not have parking passes first rights to these new pay lots
seems reasonable enough, huh?

I want to know how much in staffing costs to block off, direct, sell passes, and enforce this is going to cost?
This is about 40 lots with about 30 different access points currently.
And you notice they are going to charge up until 3 hours before kickoff.
AKA, they are trying to curb tailgating.

I don't think people are realizing the problem we have here is not with paying to park, it's the prices. 40/20/game plus 50 for a trailer is absolutely ridiculous. shite if I wanted to I could park AT the superdome for $20 for a Saints game. If a season pass was like $50 or $10 a game for LSU I would be fine with that, but these prices are crap
these prices are straight up highway robbery. no way around it. seriously to stay where i am would cost $130 just for my trailer/kegs/ice chest/cooking supplies per fricking game. insane.
and that doesnt even count the people who come to the tailgate. which i can guarantee will be a lot fewer next year.

if they are going to do this, why not offer certain "prime" areas to SEASON TICKET HOLDERS?
I agree. I'm actually ok with the concept, but I don't know if they've thought it through well enough. It seems like it will be a mess on gameday. If they have a limited number of passes that they will allow within this perimeter, it seems like selling them ahaead of time would solve a lot of the traffic jams that this is sure to cause.

x10000
We paid $10 a spot to park practically under the Georgia Dome this year for the UNC Game.
Most I've ever paid to park for an LSU game is $20 at the War Memorial Golf Course and that is because there isn't anywhere to park and they use the $$$ to repair the course after its torn up by 10,000 cars.

This.
LSU will lose ALL of its tailgating aura. Instead of campus-wide, we'll turn into Tennessee, UGA, Duke, etc.
Out of towners looking to wander campus taking in the sights and sounds will be greeted with empty grass lots and rich people coming late to the game.
This sucks.

couple of questions, Russian....since i know you will be asked
1. Do you already own a parking pass?
2. How many home games do you attend per season?

No.
Two...maybe three a year. I don't have season tickets for football, if that's your next question. I have season tickets for baseball.

This is some BS!
LSU's rationale was to cut down tailgating to eliminate the amount of trash to pick up. But they are putting it off as a way to reduce university budget cuts. BS!
Why not target the tailgaters who trash areas? A $500 excess littering fine seems appropriate. Its mainly 4 groups on the parade grounds that brought about this new policy. However these new policies will have zero impact on them.
Tailgating will be way down all over campus. My group has about 120 people on avg. It'll be cut in half if not more for tailgating as most just come to hang out, watch the game at the tailgate and keep the kegs company, then go home. We had 60+ alone watch the bama game at the tailgate.

I think people would be a lot more receptive to $10 a car or something in that neighborhood, ESPECIALLY in the grass lots. Or some kind of season long parking pass at a discount. There are 6 home games next year, so say $50 a vehicle gets you a parking tag. You get to do the same thing for your trailer, but this is ridiculous. Your trailer doesn't take up more room than a vehicle, it should at least be the same price. LSU has made some stupid moves money-wise in the past, but this is one of the worst.
Is there any type of public backlash, other than not showing up on campus next year, that could get them to change and/or cancel this policy?

Yep. LSU needs to make up that lost revenue somehow.

It doesn't even matter if your trailer takes up a spot. It is $50 to simply be on campus.
