I'm attending the LSU/UT game in Austin. Should I stay downtown (hotel) or on Lake Travis? Staying Thursday-Sunday.

Literally not a single person can answer that question for you. Two completely different options that depend on your preference.

I'd stay downtown. Campus, stadium, 6th St., Town Lake all within walking distance. I've always had a great time in that area. Music, brewpubs...it's like a really clean French Quarter (i.e. Bourbon St.) with better music.

You can still travel out to Lake Travis if you want to but don't neglect downtown if you've never been.

I literally just did.

Except you just claimed Austin has better music than New Orleans.

Depends on what else you’re looking to do in Austin.

Campus is just north of downtown so I’d stay there if I were you. Traffic is a nightmare on any given day.

The texas fans are ready. They have their season on this game.

Well, I booked one of the last rooms at a cheapo within walking distance of the stadium, even for me at my age. Plan to Uber downtown.

I would stay downtown, if for no other reason than it will be much, much easier to get back to your hotel after the game if you’re downtown as opposed to anywhere else.. then again, i’m a guy who stays in Arlington instead of in Dallas when the Tigers play in Jerry World, so that i can walk back to my hotel instead of waiting two hours for an Uber.

So do we. Both teams have an equal amount to lose/gain in this one game.. the stakes could hardly be higher, on both sides.

By far, the best question that has ever been asked here.

Nope...just better than Bourbon Street (I actually said French Quarter, but in that I stand corrected). My point was that Bourbon St. has devolved into karaoke bars and T-shirt shops with the occasional cover band, while 6th St. has good rock/blues.
