Not really because one year from today he will be in the portal also if not sooner.

Selfish for doing what the coaching staff told him to do?

This is just not a good take. QB isn’t the only position we are hurting at, we are about To switch the offensive scheme anyway. Nuss isn’t the difference maker here, and looks like he needs to develop a bit more before getting tossed into this very unique situation.
Max was the one that was selfish. Nuss could be on his 4th or 5th start if max would have said he wasn’t going to finish the season.
If LSU can just go in and out talent another P5 program with a ragtag bunch it does more for our team than whatever comes out of Nuss playing. Let the dude have his red shirt.

I think he'll be transferring at some point. So it's smart to not waste eligibility.

This pretty much hits the nail one the head. Him not burning the RS says he's out after next year if Walker wins the job.

It is entirely possible Nuss will be in the portal in a year.
His refusal to play and burn a RS seems to indicate he thinks this is a real possibility, as well. To me, this telegraphs to the team that he is a "me first" kind of teammate and he loses credibility as a team leader AT LSU.
But, if he leaves next year, without establishing any credible record as a player here, he will be looking at much less desirable destinations after LSU.
IF he wants to play at LSU, his best chance to start to create a real challenge to the presumed starter (Brennan?) is to play in this bowl. He needs this opportunity (and experience) more than LSU needs him in the long run.
By "keeping his options open" he is probably assuring next year will be a waste and he is headed to a much less prestigious program.

Daddy Nuss has a lot of coaching connections. He'll land at a school who's OC worked under daddy at some point.

I don’t think this is correct at all. Nuss’ best opportunity right now is to have a great Spring with the new staff and offense in place. His best realistic path forward for next season is to lock up the backup spot vs Howard and that’s where it will happen. The bowl game itself really doesn’t mean that much for next year. The extra bowl practice is far more important and Nuss already had the benefit of going through the camp-style portion that comes before game prep.
I love Myles and hope he has a great season next year, but let’s be completely honest- he’s injury prone. There’s a better than average chance that our backup will have to play some meaningful snaps. If Nuss stands out in the Spring and wins that job, that will go further than him playing in a one-off game with an interim staff and makeshift offense.

Myles Brennan is not injury prone. He played football from six years old, through his RS junior year at LSU without one injury or missing one game due to injury. The fact that he had an injury in 2020 and a freak accident in 2021 does not make him injury prone. He will be a stud quarterback next year you can bank on that.

I hope he does. I hope he breaks every one of Joe’s records. I was really looking forward to him and Max battling for the starting job this year knowing whoever came out ahead would really be ready.
I’m glad Myles had a long career before LSU without getting hurt, but this is the SEC and he’s going to take a lot of hits, even if the O Line improves. If you are trying to convince me him making it through an entire season of meaningful snaps without going down for any amount of time, I’m sorry, but it isn’t really working.
