true however she took over a shite program and seem to be building they won back to back SEC regular season titles(2021 and 2022) and won tourney title this year as well. we have not won either since 2004 and 2007.
What she has done is very impressive given where Arkansas was, but this year is the worst the SEC has been in a very long time and last year Arkansas had a ridiculously favorable SEC schedule. It still speaks to the concerns for LSU’s program that they could not compete better in a very down year for the conference, but I don’t necessarily see Arkansas’ accomplishment being proof that Deifel is the better coach. Torina’s earlier teams, especially 2015, likely would have won the conference this year.
The question really is whether this is just a down cycle or a downward spiral. I don’t know the answer to that. I’m willing to look at the signs of offensive improvement and the impressive haul of incoming pitching prospects and give Torina a couple more years to get back to the WCWS if next year at least shows progress. If they don’t get to OKC in those two years or don’t show progress next year, then it’ll be time to move on. The decision just needs to be about Torina and not some belief in Deifel as a savior. She’s still learning and may get there, but she’s not necessarily the answer yet.

Beth Torina's oldest daughter is 8 years old, born in 2014. Beth Torina has taken LSU softball to 3 World Series since becoming a mother.
Raising one kid is simple. Yes one she seemed to handle as again I’ve said before. What happened when the real party started when 2 and three came. So yeah you have nothing like I’ve said before

LSU and the coaches falling flat on their faces lately have nothing to do with them being parents IMO.
There are things to criticize Beth and the program over. Her being a mom is not one of them. If they don't improve soon or make the changes needed before Texas and OU come into the SEC, they won't be here in a few years. It's that simple.

In my opinion, being the parent of your 1st child is more difficult than child 2, 3, or beyond. There’s so many unknowns as a first time parent that makes things more difficult. There’s plenty of criticisms on Torina, but being a mother isn’t one of them.

I just wanted to say that any southerner that is confused as to why everyone laughs at Dixie should read this thread.
I don’t really follow the program anymore because of Dobson and leftwich and Beth should be fired if things don’t change. However she’s not failing because she’s a fricking mom

He still hasn't answered what she should do with her daughters. Also needs to come up with who pays for the federal lawsuit since he wants the AD to tell a female employee to choose between her kids or her job.

Imagine being a fanboy of a coach that has accomplished less than BT, but continuing to bang the drum for her. It’s sad, really.

At least Diefel's accomplished something. When Rachel Lawson is getting that treatment is when it gets laughable.

This whole thread is laughable. Fat Bastard’s “trap” is Dumbass 101.

Getting a baby sitter for one is east. Try two. Getting one to one spot is easy. Try getting three to three different spots. Try getting a sitter for three kids. Try shopping for two-three versus one. You’re point is mute obviously you don’t have kids.

This Is how you start a conversation and it can be a friendly honest debate. You said you’re opinion which is different than my opinion and that’s fine. You didn’t belittle me and insult my intelligence. Far from the Initial poster who did both right out the gate despite me giving every stat to prove my point and him ZERO to prove his. Then he wants to try to pull his coaching highschool as some kind of standard to know everything softball. Oh and he’s 59 which makes his view even mean more. Thank you sir for your opinion and not attacking anyone.

Curious, who is advocating for Lawson? I believe Lawson is a good coach who has done a nice job making Kentucky competitive annually that said, for what we say is underachieving I don't think she would take this program to the levels we want.
Diefel, the only knock is she has not taken her team to OKC yet. That said she took a bottom feeder program with zero history in softball and has won back to back SEC titles. She dramatically elevated that program relative to where it was. No question they choked in game 3 but they seem to be on the right track at least.

This has been one of the best non Big 3 sports threads on the board in some time. A lot of good insight and takes. Me personally, I feel the program has gone stale. Is it just a transient issue or beginning of a spiral? Idk. I like Beth.. But it seems she’s been preoccupied. Texas and OU will put LSU further back in the pack.
Good thread. I enjoyed reading it

Go look up some threads after our series with them

If SW pulls the plug on Beth Torina, when would it likely happen? After the WCWS perhaps. I am thinking/wondering if my choice, Tim Walton, can be bought and pried away from Florida.

I'm all for honest debate and just calling things out as it is. I'm not going to attack someone and use them being a mom or dad as reason for this teams comings. Frankly, being close to the program. Beth is at the facilities constantly, like all the time. I fail to see any difference or lack of attention than it was years ago.
But we can acknowledge that something is not right and that there are questions to be answered and things to be addressed. I'm not one to call for firing of a coach for not making the CWS every year (that is unreasonable IMO) but the downward trend in record and our worst post season finish in almost 17 years raises a multitude of red flags. Have things gone stale? Have things they did previously not worked anymore?
Not sure, but being at any school for a length of time. Its not unusual to see a dip or things not go as well as before. Its how you respond or change that determines your future. Maybe its time for Beth to step out her comfort zone and make some dramatic changes or its not going to end well. I like her a lot and want to see her do well but all I know is they can't continue the same old and expect things to change. Next year is a pretty critical year to me, if it ends in similar fashion as this year, well... its not going to cut it.

357. You think she's been told she's coming back or not told anything yet?
