If she doesn’t make any changes and pulls this shite again she’ll be fired next season and it’d be the right move.
I don't think she will make any changes. It appears to me she has built enough capital and deserves the right to continue running the program in the manner that will yield the same results again in 2023...........AVERAGE TO MEDIOCRE

Interestingly enough, the offense wasn't the issue this year. In conference play, LSU actually had the third highest batting average and scored the second most runs in the SEC. (for all the pundits saying fire Dobson)
Pitching and defense is what let this team down this year.

The roster needs movement in places but don’t think Brandon and Smith are the ones you want.
Morgan Smith was one of the few highlights at the end of the year. Not someone you wanted to lose.
I am guessing Brandon feels she didn't get many chances to play. Beaten out by Redoutey, Smith and sometimes Raeleen in RF. So she's leaving for somewhere to play more. Maybe a non P 5 school in Texas
Also, as bad as our pitching was, Smith may still want to pitch and she either wasn't good enough or given a chance to pitch here.
In any event, I can understand why those players are leaving.
With regard to Brown, if you are a catcher and didn't get a chance to catch here and with Maci coming in, she also needs to find a lower class school if she wants to play

I agree . I liked Smith and felt like she has great potential. BT had her playing on the last games but I guess that wasn’t enough to dissuade her from transferring.
BT definitely needs to use the transfer portal , and look for new coaching assistants that bring some good needed energy to the team and that are able to develop the talent : improve catching, fielding, batting, bunting and pitching.
Maybe someone knowledgeable and respected ,from outside the team ,could evaluate the softball situation and report their findings and recommendations to SW and to BT.

I would like to see us move on from Casanova and Edwards. Make some room for an experienced pickup from the portal or just purely to make room for the three freshman coming in that can pitch. Does anyone know if Strood and Berzon are for sure pitchers or were they brought in more for their bats?

Brown was never going to see the field but she was important. With Beth keeping 6 or 7 pitchers on the team you are going to need at least three catchers just for bullpen purposes. With Brown gone it will be important to keep Calland and Cummins or they won't have any choice but to use the portal.

What’s going on with Bama softball? 6 players enter transfer portal including Gilfoyle??

Houston Baptist will have at least 7 in the portal. One of them is one my former HS players who is in the top 5 batting average in the country in D1. For about a month, she led the country. HBU has gone off the rails... and my player showed me her emails a couple of days ago & lots of top programs are very interested.
I've had 4 former players go through the portal and 3 have improved their situations greatly. I think the portal is here to stay so I guess we better get used to it.

I would like to see about 8-10 go, Remember you got to have scholarship money to play in the pool. We did not run off COVID year seniors, very few leave and most get their education at LSU. So in the past we could not play, so these out of state kids leaving free up dollars. There have been some posts asking why in state kids are still around, they likely are on TOPS dollars. You have a group of West Coast, Atlanta (East Coast) and Houston area players who likely are all getting some share of the schlorship money. So remember when you post we need to recruit the pool that also means you need to not renew or have players using money leave. Can't have it both ways.
My 8-10 is to reduce the numbers which will increase the reps in practice and games for this on the roster. I will not name any names but I have my list, we shall see.

Coaching or locker rom issue? Or just a bad season?

Yeah it’s obvious this roster is bloated.
Beth is not near as ruthless as Kim Mulkey.

Damn. My daughter has been reaching out to them recruiting wise. Thanks for the heads up

well you might just get your wish. With Brandon, Brown, Smith in portal plus 2 more that I hear will show up in portal very soon And seniors who are not choosing to use their extra (covid) year (possibly Housh, Calland, Perkins; not sure about Cummins or Stewart) it might reduce the roster to some reasonable numbers. This will definitely make it easier to spend more time addressing individual issues.

Well to be fair, Beth has been here for 10+ years. This is her team and her hand selected recruits. She isn't the type though to run off players even if they are recruiting misses. Kim came in taking over a program that had a losing season and during an era where the portal is big. That purge was more expected under her. She is pretty ruthless but that is her style and she wins.
But I think for all parties the portal would be a good thing if the roster trimmed down in spots and they bring in a couple of solid players in some key areas. From the sound of it, that all may end up happening. More are expected to leave LSU and LSU has already reached out to Kilfoyl from Alabama. So it sounds like they will be shopping this offseason, who they end up getting is the question.

Scott doesn’t seem to be a “put a committee together to study it” type of executive. Seems he enjoys being his own evaluator and no matter how you feel about his decision, he acts decisively.
That said, Beth will return next season and if she fires any of her staff, it will be her decision. Woody will not push the issue.
But anything short of OKC next year and Woody cleans house. The rationale would be “we can’t win a Super at home” or “We can’t make a Super at home” in a best-case scenario.
We’ve said for years that Beth will sink or swim with this staff. Next season is the make or break year.

Too much momma in her. It's not a bad character trait to have at all, unless you are trying to win championships. I just don't think her soft coaching style will continue to work if LSU wants championship contending results. It has gotten stagnant and the cupboard is full of the ingredients that you can't use to bake that cake, momma bear.

Just some food for thought today for all the people saying "fire Beth" and "fire the assistants" and don't understand that this team is very young playing a very difficult schedule.
LSU scored the second most runs in SEC conference play, second only to Arkansas. In comparing the two rosters, 70.9% of the at bats on the season for LSU were taken by players classified as sophomores or freshmen. In comparison, 28.8% of Arkansas at bats were taken by freshmen or sophomores.
There are some holes to fill, but this team has a great core to build around and there are two very high caliber recruiting classes coming in the next two years.
LSU softball will compete to win the SEC and play in the world series if they will grab a player or two out of the portal to supplement the current talent.

Uh you do realize Beth used this excuse last year after getting swept at home by Florida State? “We’re young” was the theme of that presser.
So if they were “young” last year according to Beth, they should have had a decent amount of experience this year to at least go forward instead of backwards.
Right?
