I happened to be listening to Charles Hanagriff on the radio today when the announcement was made. Interestingly, he discussed the ACC TV contract apparently has provisions where schools can get paid more for higher rated (viewership) games. Thus, there is incentive for ACC schools to schedule attractive matchups.

He also discussed that it's very likely the CFP field will expand to 16 teams (maybe as early as 2026) with the SEC being guaranteed 4 spots. That guarantee would likely move the SEC towards a 9 game conference schedule while also keeping the internal mandate that SEC teams schedule at least on P4 non-conf. opponent.

It sounds like the days of LSU playing 3 games vs. the likes of Grambling, New Mexico and Georgia St in a season will be coming to an end soon.

It's not about wanting to visit Jerryworld. It's that the game would be more enjoyable. And a lot more people would actually be able to go.

The game would be perfectly fine outdoors at SMU with a 7 PM kickoff. If people can’t handle that, they need to stay their fat asses at home.

Why is personal responsibility such a lost concept? Not everything needs to be perfectly suitable for spoiled people.

Play the damn game in highland park like it’s meant to be. There’s plenty of accommodations right there.
Not everything has to be a commercialized cash grab played at Jerry world.

“The ATT Texas kickoff classic” is totally unnecessary

Thank you Jesus.

Nobody and I mean nobody looks forward to these stupid arse games. Play exhibition charity games vs these programs in the spring and leave the fall open for actual football.

Again, I'm not saying it can't happen. I'm saying it would be more enjoyable and more people would be able to go. Also, we don't get to choose the game time.

SMU is NOT gonna give up their advantage by playing a home game in Arlington.

They might for money, they have to forgo all ACC media rights revenue for a period. If the game is played at their stadium its an ACC game, if in Jerry's stadium they might get a cut of the TV money, not to mention a larger gate.

Whichever game is at Tiger Stadium. Or maybe we play 2 games at Jerry World, a neutral site.

If SMU were wise they would move it to the cowboy’s stadium and take the ticket revenue. They’re leaving 30,000 tickets of revenue on the table.

Would love to check their campus out on a gameday but I’m not traveling to not go to the game. Are their wealthy fans really going to give up their seats if the program is still competitive? Doubtful

Are we playing Houston on campus or NRG?

Nevermind

quote:

HOUSTON – University of Houston Football will kick off the 2027 college football season in the latest announced installment of the Texas Kickoff at NRG Stadium on Labor Day Weekend. The matchup will air on a to-be-determined ESPN network.

The matchup will be the fourth all-time between the programs and first since 2000. LSU leads the abbreviated all-time series, 2-1. The Cougars defeated the Tigers, 20-7, on Nov. 13, 1999, in Baton Rouge, La., as part of its lone series victory.

"I'm really excited about this opportunity for us," Houston Vice President for Athletics Chris Pezman said. "2027 is the 100thanniversary of our university. The chance to start the season playing LSU in a true neutral site game at NRG here in town for a game we don't have to return is a great way to begin the year."

Verge Ausberry said they are looking at Jerryworld as an option. Either way, in Dallas will be close to a home game crowd wise. LSU will show up in droves, not to mention already a strong fan base that lives there.

We don’t even have to split the revenue, just let LSU fans travel and SMU is going to make way more money than a home field game. They’re rich af but people won’t pass on that kind of revenue boost-especially when their donors are footing the bill on conference distribution

Alabama played at Duke
Ole Miss played at Tulane
What's the difference if LSU played in a 35k stadium?
These OOC neutral site games are dumb. It only generates money for the school, but the fans who pay plenty money don't get to experience a campus stadium outside the SEC. If the game happens to be played at Cowboys stadium, you, me, and everyone else knows damn welll lsu will sell 25k tickets, SMU 15k, and the stadium would be less than half full. Jerry ain't wasting his time with that. Keep it at SMU.

JJ (if he's still breathing, or his family) are never going to let someone take the revenue from a stadium they already own. Especially if it isn't Arkansas.

Parking is going to be a fricking nightmare for a full SMU stadium

I work right down the road from SMU and I have no idea where the frick people park for gameday.
