And you would have seen the unaltered picture as an endorsement of religion?
It could be perceived that way. To avoid the issue altogether LSU chose to remove it. Erring on the side of caution.
The joke is anyone who takes this action as some sort of insult to your religious beliefs.

here's a link to a list of logical fallucies. which one applies to your argument?
for instance, when you say something like, "There is no critical difference between referring to something as 'religion' or 'philosophy' or 'political system.' They all express worldviews," you're committing an association fallucy.

in trying to remain neutral they actually make a statement and take a religious position
what religious position is that? which specific religion does LSU's not including crosses in their picture advocate?

So many people are super sensitive about people expressing their religion. Even in a very subtle way like these kids. NEWSFLASH! Nobody is forcing you to look at it. You are free to turn your head if you want. Saying these young men are "attention whores" is way over the line. All they did was go to a football game and unknowingly have their picture taken. Those bastards!

Why not?

Too bad they didn't have the option of choosing another photo. Damn you, painted posse, for holding a gun to the admin's head so they would use a picture of you.

Oh yeah? Where?
I'm not saying anyone should sue the University or that it was not within their rights, I'm saying it's absolutely crazy that they felt the need to do this.
You'd rightly be painted as a nutjob if you tried to airbrush an Islamic student out of a picture to be put on the LSU website. It is equally nutty to airbrush a cross of of these students' chests.

It was just a dumb move by LSU and unnecessary, regardless of whether the right to use and change the pic exists. LSU shouldn't have used the pic if they didn't want the crosses.
I agree with this 100%

Protecting themselves from litigation is crazy?
Lsu is a public university that will NOT endorse any specific religion.
I don't understand how this is hard for people to grasp.

Sounds about right. Removing a person completely due to prejudice vs removing a religious symbol to avoid the appearance of bias. Definitely the same thing.

If this were a jewish kid with a yamaka, would they have airbrushed that out, or just get a new picture.
Very easy to bash Christians now days.

Seriously?
Whether it came out that they used the picture, but airbrushed out the crosses. Or that they were going to use a picture of Christian fans, but decided against it because of the crosses. Either way you'd still be screaming your butthurt.

Why didn't these morons just use a different picture that didn't have anything that they felt needed to be altered? I think that would be the easiest thing to do. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that editing certain things out of a picture is going to cause some discussion. Oh well...
Posted on 10/19/12 at 2:16 pm to Big EZ Tiger
the picture displays enthusiastic LSU fans. i think that's what they were trying to portray (enthusiasm for LSU). if someone behind them had been flipping the camera the bird, they would've photoshopped that out, as well, even though the motive for doing so wouldn't be condeming everyone who practices their right to flip the bird.
this just isn't a difficult topic to comprehend.
if you love Jesus, that's cool and no one is saying that you shouldn't. but, in adhering to federal and state law, the university decided not to dissiminate a religious image. end of story. be outraged all you want, but these laws actually protect your right to religious freedom, so just know that you're biting the hand that feeds you.
and painting a cross on your chest is not the same as wearing a turbin or a kippah, unless you paint the cross on your chest every day.

yea don't see what is difficult to comprehend. Don't airbrush photos. Do use photos that aren't airbrushed
Posted on 10/19/12 at 2:27 pm to mr. penguin
Based on the before & after photos, I thought more people would be upset that the black guy got cropped out of the photo

Nope only if you are a Christian. LSU painting over a turbin would cause the media to bash LSU for being insensitive. Makes me want to puke.
